Welcome to the strange twilight world of David Icke, best-selling conspiriology author and one of the most controversial public speakers on Earth today. Through a series of books, most notably 'The Biggest Secret: The Book That Will Change The World' (Bridge Of Love Publications, 1999), '. . .And The Truth Shall Set You Free' (Truth Seeker, 1998), and 'The Robot's Rebellion: The Story Of The Spiritual Renaissance' (Gill & Macmillan Publishers, 1994), Icke lays out a conspiriology 'grand narrative' that involves every major conspiracy theory and occult society that ever existed, an alternative view of history which Icke contends has been kept from the majority of the human race. This worldview was parodied by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson in their famous 'Illuminatus! Trilogy' (Dell Publishing Company, 1975), but Icke is deadly serious about his model, and continues to attract a devoted following.

Read as fictional metaphor, Icke's books are a paranoid roller-coaster ride through Humanity's eternal struggle to consciously evolve from primitive and violent deep-brain subsystems to whole-Earth macro-views. But unfortunately many readers are confusing the map with the territory, resulting in the 'information overload' that semiotician Umberto Eco wryly warned about in his masterful postmodern novel 'Foucault's Pendulum' (Picador, 1990).

Icke's biographical story offers ample examples of this common mistake of 'Seekers After Truth'. David Icke is a well-known name in conspiracy writing these days, with a dedicated following of people to whom he has confided the godawful truth about this planet. This fact gives one pause to think, and says a lot about the mentality of the current crop of TV-bred humans, for Icke's new book is a classic at that odd edge of literature inhabited by people like Bill Cooper, Commander X, Al Bielek, George Andrews, and a flock of others; folks who have a decided talent for making money, but have to ask others to tie their shoes for them. It is a huge, detailed, riotous excursion into bullgoose crackpot conspiracy the likes of which hasn't been seen since Bill Cooper's magnum crapus, Behold a Pale Horse. In other words, it is the biggest crock to be foisted on the public in many moons -- and as such, for those interested in what's going on in this weird conspiracy subculture, it is an absolute must read.

Like many other unworthies who couldn't string together a grammatical sentence for love nor money, yet somehow happened into the awful truth about the alien invasion, Icke has found the key to churning out the wildest conspiracy mongering this side of Richard Shaver. That is: Believe every goddamn weird thing anybody, anywhere ever said. It's a sure-fire formula for sales.

Assume that Belleview is actually a secret repository of enlightened avatars. Believe Bill Cooper, believe Cathy O'Brien and Mark Phillips, believe Jason Bishop III, believe Phil Schnieder. Believe any and everybody who claims that they ever went into an underground base and had a laser shoot-out with bug-eyed aliens, participated in a ritual sacrifice with Hillary Clinton, or saw George Bush transform into a Reptoid in the oval office.

Icke's main thesis in the book is that the world is being run by reptilian extraterrestrial who suck human blood, and that people like Hillary Clinton, Henry Kissinger, and the Queen of England are shape-changing reptiles from that ancient cold-blooded family line. His proof? None, except for the occasional wild rantings of the crayon-wielding crowd who attend his lectures and confess that they too ran into somebody who turned into a reptile in WalMart one time.

Weirdly enough, in Icke's huge, crazy quilt 516-page book, there is quite a bit of material that might be of use to the researcher, if you use tweezers. Icke has, after all, cobbled together most all of the content of the last ten years of conspiracy writing, mostly copping it as his own thoughts. As I read through the book and ran across sections dealing with books I had read, I could almost see the open book in Icke's lap while he paraphrased. At one point he quotes me verbatim, without crediting me, but pass on, pass on. The real trouble with the book is that he has no discrimination about what is plausible and the tortured squawks of the straitjacket set.

The aptly-named Icke and his pinheaded followers are not going to like this review. They're going to say that I'm an agent of the Secret Government. They'll say that I'm deluded and won't find out until some alien is sucking my blood in an underground base. They'll say I'm a member of a secret Scottish Freemasonic bloodline bent on world domination. They might even say that I'm a secret Reptoid myself. But I suppose there is a bit of truth in that last. Books like Icke's do bring out my cold-blooded side.

It enables Icke, who has attracted more than his fair share of public ridicule and humiliation over the years, to rise above the frenzied, even bigoted, howls of derision that his most recent claims have generated. Ridicule that has even come from within the New World Order research community following his claims that the rich and powerful, among them the British Royal Family, are in fact child abusing and sacrificing shape-changing reptilians, part of an ancient cabal which has controlled humanity for thousands of years and is now striving to build a ‘global fascist state’. He maintains that Opera plans on terrorising Microsoft with flaming bags of excrement, as well as Opera singing until it succumbs and gives away the source code to Windows as well as all rights to the most-crashing OS, so Opera can take over the IT world and extort all non-Macintosh offices for billions of dollars. After this, Illuminati intends to reinstall the Y2K bug for all computers, even the thousand Apple Macs in the world, and change the bug so it implodes computers on December 21, 2012. Icke says the machines will actually explode and reduce the worlds population to 533 million people. The insidious plan then proceeds to kick off the New World Order where reptilians will be slaves for the poor, and crocodiles will be hunted again as Steve Irwin is resurrected and becomes the figurehead of the New World Religion.

Thora Hird, the thousand year old actress and inventor of the stair-lift responded to this comment by pointing out that Icke is "a schizophrenic second-rate goal-keeper who wouldn't know community responsibility if he fell over it on the way to his helicopter pad." She later added, "If he thinks different I'll see the twat outside."

David Icke has discovered that the reptilian Brain after opening his head to complain about the noise. The two Lizards called Percy and Flibble have agreed to keep the noise down, as long as he keeps talking about truth vibrations, however worrying for Icke fans: Percy and Flibble haven't made contact with Icke's brain for some time now. In David's 2005 book (How I predicted 9/11), he has uncovered at least one of the Queens Brain Lizard which is called Jermajesty.

The Libel Action
In 2004, David was taken to the high court in London after Godzilla was suing him for Liable. The main premis being that 'Godzilla is not assuming a human identity and is a Lizard by choice and didnt wanted to be tarred by being Illuminati'. During the hearing, things got heated and Godzilla even threatened Davids home on the Isle of Wight if he didn't stop accusing Godzilla about being related to the Queen. Moon Cheese
Davids latest theory is covered in his 2067 (Human Race - Get your cash out (25% off RRP) (2010) page Opus Is the Moon made of cheese?. His latest theory is that the Extras from V Mind Control Reptiles are close to exhausting their cheese stock from the moon and now want to take over the earths food chain on hard dairy products. Sane People Skeptics have pointed out the diet requirements of reptiles do not include cheese and this would probably kill them. However Icke reassures us that if The Queen can eat dairy products then so can the Illuminati. This is covered in chapter 11 of his book and the other 2066 pages cover all the previous important mis-information as before.

The issue of NewAgeFascism has recently been placed under the spotlight by various concerned parties, the most notable of these have been Open Eye Magazine (who have done much valuable work in exposing David Icke - more of this later) and a new book called "Ecofascism - Lessons from the German Experience". Whilst not being the greatest work ever published (it's too simplistic/sparse and certain parts display a suspiciously unobjective admiration for Murray Bookchin - further investigation revealed that one of the authors just happens to be his wife...) it provides an introduction to a serious and previously neglected issue.

Ecofascism can be loosely defined as the mixing of concepts such as organic farming, vegetarianism and nature worship with racism and and nationalism; this mixture is not new - first appearing in nineteenth century Germany. "New Age" nazism (currently mainly personified by David Icke) uses some "green" ideas in conjunction with conspiricist theories and derivations from various pseudo-occult traditions, most notably Theosophy.

The green movement in this country is large and extremely diverse, incorporating many different groups and factions ranging from Direct Activists to FoE/Greenpeace/Green Party to a variety of New Age/mystical types - a very wide range of ideas, theories and practices come under the general heading of "green". There are no set divides betwen the various groupings and a certain degree of crossover exists.

It would be safe to say that the most important of the above - the direct action eco-movement, i.e "Earth First!" has to its credit now probably developed a strong enough commitment to social justice and genuinely libertarian and anti-authoritarian ideas and acivities for it not to be susceptible to Ecofascism. Exceptions to this may be some mystical greens (see below). There are however a number of other petty authoritarian factions within the Direct Action movement who don't quite deserve the label of fascist; these include the "vegan police" and ideological pacifists both of whose problems are self-explanatory.

It is however within the "New Age" movement that fascism is the biggest problem. Fascist tendencies have always been present within it but due to the naivety of many of its adherents these have gone largely unchallenged/noticed. A prime example of this is the enduring popularity of Rudolf Steiner's Anthroposophy in alternative circles in this country as well as in Germany and America. This ideology mixes bizarre racialist spiritual theory (which somewhat unsurprisingly concludes that European whites are at the summit of the heirarchical scale of humanity) with concepts such as "biodynamic farming", a form of organic agriculture which "tries to foster a more organic relationship between cultivator and soil." Many ideas current within mystical green circles have a very similar conceptual basis to those of classical Fascism (i.e. the German, Italian and Spanish models). Examples of this include a desire to return to an idealised mythical "golden age" - in this case Celtic, the celebration of "feelings" and emotions (i.e. of collectivity and unity) over reason and the cultural appropriation of pagan rituals and symbols.

The problem has become much more acute recently with the emergence of groups such as Rainbow Ark, and more populist figures such as David Icke. Icke may be a figure of fun to those who recall his "turquoise" and "godhead" phases, but his ideas have recently taken a much more sinister direction; he has successfully managed to repackage and overtly (notably "Jewish conspiracy" theories ) into a theory that has proved highly popular amongst New Agers who consider him a sort of guru. In his books called "The Robot's Rebellion" and "....and the truth shall set you free" he attacks electoralism and capitalism - at first glance a praiseworthy exercise but on the grounds that it is a global conspiracy involving a Jewish elite and the "All Seeing Eye" cult !!!! . Unfortunately his followers, the vast majority of whom are New Agers (Although it should be noted that members of the nazi group C18 have turned up at his meetings) don't appear to be able or willing to recognise Icke for what he is - a fascist. Even when publicly confronted with statements such as "A Jewish clique worked to create the First World War, the Rusian Revolution and the Second World War." they have a disturbing tendency to deny his blatant racism and anti-semitism.

Certain aspects of the "New Age" are not holistic or benign but pure poison and should be attacked and discredited at every available opportunity. This is particularly important as more people then ever are turning to New Age spirituality and conspiricism in an escapist search for answers and scapegoats to explain or forget the misery of their everyday lives. Unfortunately there aren't any answers to be found in crystal gazing (crystals which incidentally if shopbought are likely to have been mined by multinationals such as RTZ who are engaged in wholesale devastation of the Third World) or infantile conspiracy theories. The reality of the situation is that we live in an openly exploitative and oppressive society and until people recognise that the answer to the riddle of their dead lives lies in practical struggle people will look to scum like Icke peddling their shit as a solution.

On the face of it, few people would credit a retired soccer player who rants about a world takeover by blood-drinking lizards from outer space as being much of a threat to democracy. And as a general rule, they would probably be right.

David Icke, however, is an exception to that rule.

Icke, 48, is a native of Leicester, England. For five years he played professionally for the Coventry City and Hereford United soccer teams until forced to retire by arthritis. He subsequently went on to become a sports announcer for BBC-TV. For three years from 1988 to 1991 he was national spokesperson for the British Green Party, until he began a political evolution that was to begin with his expulsion from the Greens and wind up with his current involvement with anti-Semitism, neofascism, and lizards from Mars.1

At first this evolution seemed relatively harmless. Icke began to flirt seriously with New Age theories, and then began to act on them. He dressed in turquoise, and began to call himself the "son of godhead". But by the time his book "The Robot's Rebellion" was printed in 1994, his trajectory had begun to take quite a different course. In 1996, the British magazine "Left Green Perspectives" wrote that this book "indicated a convergence of New Age thinking with Nazi philosophy. Casting aside his pat concerns about the environment, Icke enthusiastically embraced the classic Nazi conspiracy theory, alleging that the world is controlled by a secret cadre of "The Elite." He openly endorsed The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, the Tsarist anti-Semitic forgery that informed Hitler's notion of a global Jewish conspiracy."

The following year Icke brought out another book, "...and the truth shall set you free." This one, however, was self-published, as its content was so objectionable that his publisher refused to have it printed. And small wonder. The book repeated Icke's previous claims that the Protocols were true, and went on to state: "I strongly believe that a small Jewish clique which has contempt for the mass of Jewish people worked with non-Jews to create the First World War, the Russian Revolution, and the Second World War....They then dominated the Versailles Peace Conference and created the circumstances which made the Second World War inevitable. They financed Hitler to power in 1933 and made the funds available for his rearmament."2

In this book, Icke went even further. He began to flirt explicitly with Holocaust denial, saying "why do we play a part in suppressing alternative information to the official line of the Second World War? How is it right that while this fierce suppression goes on, free copies of the Spielberg film, Schindler's List, are given to schools to indoctrinate children with the unchallenged version of events. And why do we, who say we oppose tyranny and demand freedom of speech, allow people to go to prison and be vilified, and magazines to be closed down on the spot, for suggesting another version of history."3 He also denounced the Nuremberg Trials as "a farce" and "a calculated exercise in revenge and manipulation."4

Icke's politics today are a mishmash of most of the dominant themes of contemporary neofascism, mixed in with a smattering of topics culled from the U.S. militia movement. He has written diatribes on the Illuminati, the Council on Foreign Relations and the Trilateral Commission as examples of secret plots to take over the world. He opposes gun control as a plot by this Elite, which has deliberately orchestrated numerous mass shootings to whip up opposition to guns.5 He has repeatedly posted anti-abortion literature and articles on his web site.6 He rails against conspiracies to implant microchips in everyone's bodies, coded with the Satanic number "666".7 He even accuses the U.S. government of carrying out the Oklahoma City bombing and murdering 168 men, women and children.8

For a decade Icke has exhibited signs of serious mental instability. In his web site autobiography he reveals that as early as 1990 he became aware of "a presence around me, like there was always someone in the room when there was not. It got to the point where I sat on the side of the bed in a hotel room in London in early 1990 and said to whoever or whatever: "If you are there will you please contact me because you are driving me up the wall." A year later, on holiday in Peru, Icke describes hearing voices: "as I looked at the mound, a voice in my head began to say: "Come to me, come to me, come to me.... Suddenly I felt my feet pulled to the ground again like a magnet, the same as in the newspaper shop, but this time far more powerful. My arms then shot above my head, with no decision by me for them to do so.... A flow of powerful energy began to go into the top of my head like a drill, and I could feel the flow going the other way up from the ground through my feet. It was then I heard the third voice in my head, something that has never happened since. It said very clearly: "It will be over when you feel the rain".9

Over the last year Icke's writings have become so paranoid and so extreme that many are probably inclined to dismiss him as posing any sort of threat, or requiring a response. Icke is now arguing in all seriousness that the Illuminati plot to take over the world is actually being carried out by a race of extraterrestrial reptiles in human form. They are described, literally, as being child-sacrificing, blood-drinking Satan-worshippers capable of changing their shape, whose ranks include George Bush, Bill and Hilary Clinton, Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mum, Bob Hope and Kris Kristofferson, among others.10

David Icke is not alone. He is a small industry in a large and lucrative market of often well-to do New Age boomers. He has several web sites, an e-magazine, his own publishing house, and at least 9 books and 4 videotapes to his credit. He is constantly on the road, touring North America, Europe, Australia, South Africa, the Pyramids, and elsewhere. In the last five years he has spoken in Vancouver as many times, and across Canada he can turn out substantial audiences. His organizers claim he had 1,000 people out to hear him at his last gig in Vancouver, and he hopes to fill the Vogue Theatre on March 19. It's a large milieu that can afford the hefty prices Icke charges - up to $67 to attend a lecture, forty to fifty dollars for videotapes - and that generates a sizeable income for Icke and his message of conspiracism, fear and hate.

To organize all this, Icke has developed an international network of people who work with him and for him. They book the dates, churn out the posters and press releases, do the advance work, pick him up at the airport, get him to the hotel, introduce him, and get him back to his flight on time. They also show clearly why David Icke is a dangerous man, because they underscore his politics in an unmistakable way.

Icke is undeniably a flake, and a world-class flake, but his danger comes from his alliances as well as his politics. And it's the far right who handle this man, who package and promote and present his message across Canada and around the world.

Take Joseph Duggan. Duggan is the proprietor of Strong Eagles Productions, the company organizing Icke's current Vancouver speaking engagement. Duggan makes his living in part from organizing B.C. speaking engagements for a string of conspiracy theorists and famous personalities of the extreme right like Glen Kealey, Cathy O'Brien, Len Horowitz and others.11 Duggan also used to be the health editor of Shared Vision until last year, which has itself advertised tours by Icke and hosted speeches by him as well. Interspersed with monthly columns on health foods and natural healing, Duggan's writings in Shared Vision also promoted the far right anti-government activist Murray Gauvreau12, Colorado militia supporter Suzanne Harris13, and the notorious Glen Kealey.14

In March 1997, Duggan's column referred extensively to the book "War Cycles, Peace Cycles" by American writer Richard K. Hoskins.15 Hoskins has been denounced as "a virulent anti-Semite who is a leading ideologue of the Christian Identity movement" by no less a source than Conrad Black's National Post. When Aryan Nations member Buford Furrow was arrested in Los Angeles last August after shooting and wounding five people at a Jewish community centre and murdering a Filipino postal worker, police found a copy of "War Cycles, Peace Cycles" in his car.16

Icke's books and videos are also distributed by an organization in Salmon Arm, B.C. called The Preferred Network. The Preferred Network's web site advertises at least four of Icke's books and the same number of videotapes, as well as an extensive selection of U.S. and Canadian conspiracy materials covering the traditional themes particular to the far right: the government coverup of the Oklahoma City bombing, "The 10 Secrets Revenue Canada Doesn't Want You To Know", "Humanity's Extraterrestrial Origins", the AIDS coverup, the Ebola coverup, the Lockerbie coverup, the PanAm 800 coverup, "Satanism And The CIA", and Kari Simpson's expose of the gay agenda in B.C. schools.17

David Lethbridge, director of the Salmon Arm Coalition Against Racism, has described the organizer of The Preferred Network in the following way: "a well-attended demonstration opposing the Multilateral Agreement on Investment was held [in the spring of 1998] in Salmon Arm, B.C.... Working the fringes was Wes Mann, organizer of the Preferred Network. Mann was handing out flyers for conspiracy advocates David Icke, Ted Gunderson and Cathy O'Brien. Whenever he could, Mann would strike up a conversation with one of the demonstrators, then write down their name and phone number. I knew who Mann was. His Preferred Network catalog carries several dozen books and tapes promoting the usual New Age fare: cancer cures, spiritualist prophecies, UFO tales and so on. But much of the catalog consists of materials promoting right-wing militias and right-wing conspiracy theories, and books by notorious fascists and antisemites such as Eustace Mullins. I went over to Mann, who did not recognize me, and began to question him. Within minutes he was telling me that the MAI was the work of a conspiracy organized by the mysterious "Black Nobility" and the "International Bankers". The anti-Jewish code words were obvious. Soon Mann was telling me that the antisemitic forgery The Protocols Of The Elders Of Zion was authentic, that the Nazi Holocaust had never occurred, that the contemporary Jews were not Jews at all but descendants of the Turkish Khazars, and that the fascist Eustace Mullins was "a brilliant researcher".18

In Ottawa, Icke's key organizer is Tom J. Kennedy. Kennedy was responsible for much of the organizational detail of Icke's October 1999 speaking tour in Ottawa, Toronto, and Windsor, Ontario, also acting as his gofer and driver.19 But Kennedy's activities do not stop there. He is an active supporter of Canada's DeTax movement, a far right current that imitates the tax-resistance strategies of the Freemen and other Christian Patriot groups in the U.S.20 Kennedy's web site also promotes Glen Kealey's conspiracist workshops, and other similar endeavours.21 And his politics become even clearer when one reads the materials Kennedy has posted on the internet over his own name. On January 18, 1999, he posted an article attacking usury [a favourite code word among the far right for the international Jewish Bankers Conspiracy].22 He had originally found this article on a British web site, and liked it so much he reposted it to his own list. The British group that had written the article, Final Conflict, is one of Britain's hard-core neo-nazi groups, whose web site carries articles entitled "Did Six Million Really Die" and slogans reading "Long Live Death."23 Four months later, on May 6, 1999 Kennedy posted an article on secret societies he had picked up from the Hoffman Wire.24 The Hoffman Wire is a far-right Holocaust denial organization based in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, not far from the headquarters of Aryan Nations.25
Kennedy's web site now carries an article "Fear NOT - The Ultimate Label "Anti-Semitic", which clarifies his endorsement of Icke's politics: "I have always been motivated to find out the real reasons why particular researchers and historians get targeted with the ultimate label "Anti-Semitic" and other lesser labels such as "Neo-Nazi" and "Racist" Needless to say, I was motivated to follow the information in search of reasons why David Icke was being so labelled during his Ontario `99 tour.... Perhaps the unfair labelling of researchers as "Anti-Semites" has a hidden agenda to keep people from seeking the "truth?" Or could this whole "Anti-Semitic" labelling be another "divide and conquer" deflection to keep us busy while the real 10,000 year agenda of the Freemasons and Bilderbergers is being completed? Just wondering??"26 In probability, the labelling of Tom Kennedy as anti-Semitic might have more to do with his stated support for Holocaust denier David Irving ("a meticulous historical researcher"27), or with his pal Ernst Zundel, who told Kennedy in the early 1980's "Tom, you are writing about the usurious money system which reaps the Financial Elite multiple millions annually. What you are writing about is even more sacred than "the holocaust", so be very careful for your well-being!!"28

David Icke's associations with the extreme right are not confined to Canada, nor are they only a recent phenomenon. One of the most ominous instances of this was documented in an article in the London Evening Standard concerning Icke's 1995 speaking tour of Britain to promote his newest book, The Robot's Rebellion. Journalist Mark Honigsbaum reported that "what worries the Jewish community most is that Icke's veiled anti-Semitic references are now attracting the attention of more sinister British forces, in particular Combat 18, the neo-Nazi group which recruits among football's violent hooligan fringe. The Jewish Chronicle has reported how Combat 18 has taken to publicizing Icke's current tour in its internal journal, Putsch. Citing Icke's recent lecture in Glastonbury, Putsch claimed that Icke "spoke of "the sheep" and how the Zionist-operated government, sorry, "Illuminati", uses them for its own ends." The Combat 18 report continued: "He began to talk about the big conspiracy by a group of bankers, media moguls, etc. - always being clever enough not to mention what all these had in common"."29

Combat 18 is fascist. The numbers do not stand for "eighteen" but for "one - eight", the first and eighth letters of the alphabet. A and H, as in Adolph Hitler. C18 was for much of the 90's the most important and the most violent organization in the British neo-Nazi movement, with a number of murders to its credit. 30 C18 has now fallen on hard times. Its main leader, Charlie Sargent, is serving a life term for the first degree murder of one of his own followers, and the group itself promptly split in two over a bitter struggle over finances; but none of this prevented it from carrying out two bombings in black and Bangladeshi neighbourhoods in London last summer, or of being suspected in the bombing of a gay pub that killed two and sent 60 people to hospital.31 Such are David Icke's friends and associates.

Despite this record, Icke enjoys a surprising degree of support from unexpected quarters. Connie Fogal, married to the long-time leftie alderman Harry Rankin, has had her organization, the Defence of Canadian Liberty Association, set up a literature table at one of Icke's appearances. Paul Hellyer's Canada Action Party also had a table at Icke's last Vancouver speech. Icke is listed as a contributor to the supposedly left-wing tabloid The Radical, published in Quesnel and distributed widely throughout B.C. And Icke's tours have been advertised in local New Age publications like Shared Vision and Common Ground.

The fact is that some of what Icke says has a resonance in these quarters. He's against world conspiracies, free trade, the MAI, the WTO and corporate globalism. Many of his far right supporters are active in other areas as well: cannabis legalization, alternative health, anti-corporate activism, even support for native sovereignty struggles like Gustavsen Lake. It's long overdue for the left, the environmental movement, feminists, anti-WTO activists, lesbians and gays, and yes, even New Agers, to start looking more closely at Icke and his friends. The advocates of Holocaust denial and anti-Semitism will seldom if ever reveal their real agenda. They prefer to work in the shadows, using coded language, building patiently for a new and improved Reich. The threat they pose is no less real simply because it doesn't register on the radar screen. Yet.

All we need to do is look at Austria to see why these politics have to be confronted, isolated and defeated, and the price we will all pay if they are not.

The ABC’s latest recruit for current affairs presentation duties
is even further to the Left than usual.

Indeed, Jonathan Green is soft on former (?) supporters of Left totalitarians,
while smearing mainstream conservative parties as neo-Nazis.

Gerard Henderson describes Green’s recent group-hug with Greens Senator Lee Rhiannon:

once favoured by the discredited anti-communist Joe McCarthy.
Let’s go to the transcript:

Jonathan Green: Are you now or have you ever been a member of the Communist Party?

Lee Rhiannon: I was not a member of Communist Party. But I was a member of
the Socialist Party and I worked on a whole range of issues with my
colleagues around international disarmament, women’s rights, issues
to do with unemployment – and I continue to see that these are important issues.

This is a cop-out… The facts are known – by Jonathan Green and others.

- When Lee Rhiannon joined the Socialist Party of Australia in 1970-71,
it was the pro-Soviet Union part of the communist movement…

- From around 1970 until the collapse of the European communism in 1990,
Lee Brown – who became Lee O’Gorman by marriage and Lee Rhiannon by deed poll –
was associated with the SPA, which received funds from the Soviet Union.
Lee O’Gorman edited the pro-Moscow journal Survey for some of this time
– including its final edition in 1990.

- Lee Rhiannon refuses to answer questions as to whether her travels to
communist Eastern Europe in the 1970s and 1980s were funded – in whole or in part –
by the Communist regimes in East Germany and the like.

- Senator Rhiannon also refuses to say whether
she studied at the Lenin School in Moscow in 1977.
The Lenin School was a training ground for pro-Moscow communists the world over.

On all these matters, JG let Senator Rhiannon off the hook.
Earlier in the interview, he did ask her about Christian Kerr’s recent articles
in The Australian which – based on ASIO’s now released files – demonstrated
that she was contacted by Vladimir Alekseev in 1970, the KGB’s man in
the Soviet Embassy in Australia. However, JG’s questioning was soft –
of the: “Were you a KGB informer?” genre. Senator Rhiannon replied
in the negative.

Compare and contrast:

On 11 January 2011, Jonathan Green appeared on the ABC TV The Drum program ...
(to discuss) a controversial neo-Nazi festival, which was planned for the Gold Coast
in Queensland. The festival in question was called the “Hammered” and its organisers
included such white supremist groups as “Blood and Honour”.

During the studio discussion, Jonathan Green declared:
“We shouldn’t trivialise this folks, it’s nasty.” Quite so. However,
when it was put in the discussion that if the event had not been criticised
no one would have known about it, Jonathan Green agreed – declaring :

It would be just another day on the Gold Coast
and everyone would think it was an LNP fundraiser…
During the same program, Jonathan Green compared “the John Howard
leadership” style with that of the dictator Bashar al-Assad in Syria.
According to Green, both men held the view that if they step down “it
will be at the will of the people”.

This is why family entertainment at the Green household has included
beating a Howard effigy with a stick.

“Our” ABC is committed to every kind of diversity except diversity of thought.

Latest evidence? the editor of its new on-line opinion section Jonathan Green,
who has been not only the editor of the far-Left Crikey website, but a proud member of Victoria’s Pinata Left as well. Yes, that’s John Howard hanging from Green’s tree:

It must be Green’s politics that particularly appealed to the ABC.

Of course, I may be wrong. Maybe the ABC’s online section will indeed
prove under Green to be fair and balanced. One clue will be who the ABC
hires to balance both Green and its other on-line signing, Annabel Crabb.

UPDATE

I’d also urge the ABC to be very careful of Green’s quality control
over his writers and blog readers. I was forced recently to write the
following to his boss, Eric Beecher, the famous campaigner for “quality
journalism”, and am still considering my options, as they say:

postings you had published over the space of just a few days calling me
a “proven liar”, “nutty”, “unhinged”, “underhand”, “loopy”, “paranoid”, a
“hypocrite”, a “racist”, “dishonest”, “hysterical”, “petty”,
“evasive”, “deluded”, “irrational”, lacking in morality, someone guilty
of “deliberately misrepresenting” people, “full of poisonous shit”, and a
“notorious liar” who practices “lies, misrepresentations, and deceit”,
“lies, distortions and smears”, “fakery” and “cowardice and

and the region’s farmers are still looking for love.

In just a few weeks up to 500 people are expected to descend upon the
farming town for the second annual event, with a date now set for March 3.

Wallace Hotel publican Andrea Wilson said she had already sold
tickets to 200 people, including a group of girls who put their names
down to attend 12 months ago – the day after attending last year’s event.

“I said to them, ‘How do you know you’ll still be single then?’
and they said they just didn’t want to miss out,” Ms Wilson said.

“It turns out they are still single and they’ve bought tickets.”

The matchmaking night is open to anyone aged between 25 and 95,
and so far people of all ages have registered.

“I think the eldest person to register is one of our farmers – who’s 72,” Ms Wilson said.

“We have a lot of people – especially girls – coming on their own,
and a lot of people coming from Melbourne.

“It’s about just having a bit of fun and breaking the ice.”

Ms Wilson said she knew of a few couples who were still together after meeting
at the event last year.

But she said many of the romances had been fleeting.

“Most of the couples who are still together today are on the mature side – a
lot of the younger ones seem to have broken up,” she said.

Twenty-five-year-old Gordon farmer Stuart Miller said he and his friends
had attended last year’s event, and were planning on returning this year.

“Everyone I’ve spoken to is pretty much going,” he said.

“I met one girl (last year), and we went on a few dates, but that was it.”

Mr Miller was coy on whether this year would be the year he found love.
“We’ll see what happens,” he said.

gross domestic product (GDP) and inflation expected to grow around
trend over the coming years.

As a result, he said, the country was well-placed to deal with any flow-on effects
from Europe's sovereign debt crisis.

"We have much more flexibility to deal with unfolding events
than almost any other developed economy."

Traditional Jewish View of Anti-Semitism

Hitler introduced to mankind a unique strain of anti-Semitism. To the world at large, this brand of anti-Semitism seemed new, but there was nothing revolutionary about it to the Jews.

Long before any practical manifestation of anti-Semitism made its appearance in the world, the Torah made it known that anti-Semitism would play an integral role in Jewish history. In fact, we were told, Jews would be hated for exactly the reasons Hitler so brazenly outlined.

The Talmud (Tractate Shabbos 89) cites the source of anti-Semitism using a play on words: The Torah – the source of the Jewish system of laws, values and moral standards – was received at Mount Sinai. The Hebrew pronunciation of "Sinai" is almost identical to the Hebrew word for "hatred" – sinah. "Why was the Torah given on a mountain called Sinai?" asks the Talmud. "Because the great sinah – the tremendous hatred aimed at the Jew – emanates from Sinai."

At Sinai Jews were told that there is one God, Who makes moral demands on all of humanity. Consequently, at Sinai the Jewish nation became the target for the hatred of those whose strongest drive is to liberate mankind from the shackles of conscience and morality.

At Sinai the Jewish nation was appointed to be "a light unto the nations." There are those who embrace Jews and the Jewish faith because of that light; but there are also those who want the world to be a place of spiritual darkness. They object to morality. Those would-be harbingers of darkness attack the Jews as the lightning rod for their hatred.

Herman Rauchning had been Hitler’s personal confidante, but he abandoned Nazism and attempted to alert the free world to the scope and danger of the Nazi threat. He wrote:

The Real Reason for Hatred of Jews

Why do people hate this message – the eternal "call to Sinai" – and harbor such animosity for those who carry it?

A great many people simply can’t cope with the burden of being good. However, when they act in ways that are bad, they can’t cope with the resultant feelings of guilt. Try as they may, they can never cut themselves loose from the standards of absolute morality dictated by the Torah. Stuck in this "Catch-22" situation, people turn with their mounting frustrations against the Jews, who they perceive as personifying humanity’s collective conscience.

Sigmund Freud recognized this tendency, and explained: "Jews are hated not so much because they killed Jesus, but because they produced him."

On a certain conscious level, people recognize the Jews’ message as truth. Those unwilling to embrace the truth have found that the only way to rid themselves of it is to destroy the messengers – for the message itself is too potent to be dismissed.

That is what is so irksome about the Jews, and that is why, for some people, nothing less than total destruction of the Jews will do. If Judaism were just another ideology, people could laugh it off and continue on their merry way. But deep in his soul, every human being recognizes the essential truths of morality – people can’t just laugh it off.

Any individual’s claim to superiority bothers people only to the extent that they believe it is true. If someone who is indisputably ugly saunters up to a nice-looking fellow at a party and says, "I’m better-looking than you," what would be the other’s response? More than likely he would simply shrug his shoulders and ignore him, because the comment would not bother him in the least.

If, on the other hand, the best-looking guy in the room comes up to the same fellow and makes the identical comment, that will raise his dander. The reason is that one doesn’t resent people who say they are superior; one resents people who are superior.

That is why the Christians’ hatred of the Jews was particularly intense. They, more than those of other religions, were threatened by the Jewish message. Jews said that Jesus was not God. This statement assumes a "wrongness" about Christianity. The Church Fathers understood that if the Jews are right, and they remain Jews, this implies that Christianity is bankrupt.

Therein lies Judaism’s colossal threat to Christianity. Other groups’ denial of Jesus is a great disappointment to Christians, but the Jews’ denial is intolerable. Jesus came to the Jews! The very group that produced him, those people who had the most knowledge and authority on such matters, those who represented the last word on religion – were the first to reject Jesus.

The Jewish threat to Christianity has nothing to do with their having "killed" Jesus. The source of Christian fear runs much deeper: Jewish existence invalidates the essential tenet of Christian theology.

What is this message that the Jewish people are bringing to the world, that so many find so threatening?

The Jews: Light Unto the Nations

The profound message that Jews bear to humanity has gained such widespread acceptance that people tend to take it for granted. Yet the ideas which originated at Sinai have literally changed the world.

Few people give much thought anymore to the source of the basic moral underpinnings of Western society. Concepts such as basic human rights, the notion that the sick and the elderly should be cared for – not murdered or left to die – and the idea of society assisting the poor and disadvantaged, all seem to "come naturally" nowadays.

In short, Jewish concepts have civilized the world.



Any serious student of history who has gained some awareness of what world standards were like before the Jews came along can easily recognize the enormous impact that Judaism has had.

How Do Non-Jewish Historians View Jews?

Those who understand world philosophic trends prior to the advent of the Jewish influence can identify clearly that it was the Jews who moved the world away from paganism and toward standards of morality and justice.

John Adams, second president of the United States, wrote to a friend:

"I insist that the Hebrews have done more to civilize men that any other nation . . . they are the most glorious nation that ever inhabited this earth … They have given religion to three-quarters of the globe, and have influenced the affairs of mankind more, and more happily, than any other nation, ancient or modern."(Letter of John Adams to F.A. Christian scholar and historian Paul Johnson wrote in his bestseller, History of the Jews:

One way of summing up 4,000 years of Jewish history is to ask ourselves, what would have happened to the human race if Abraham had not been a man of great sagacity; or if he had stayed in Ur and kept his higher notions to himself, and no specific Jewish people had come into being. Certainly the world without the Jews would have been a radically different place.

All the great conceptual discoveries of the intellect seem obvious and inescapable once they have been revealed, but it requires a special genius to formulate them for the first time. The Jews had this gift. To them we owe the ideas of equality before the law, both divine and human; of the sanctity of life and the dignity of the human person; of the individual conscience, and so of personal redemption; of the collective conscience, and so of social responsibility; of peace as an abstract ideal, and love as the foundation of justice; and many other items which constitute the basic moral furniture of the human mind.

The easiest solution to this problem is to dye her hair. Presto! No longer a redhead, she's a brunette. The problem is eliminated!

What's the more difficult solution? To reframe it. To tell her: "No matter what they say about having red hair, it's not bad. It's beautiful! It's gorgeous! It's unique. It has flair and individuality. It's extravagant." You reframe it. And she has no more problems. Because her problem was not really a problem, only the misconception of others.

In truth, what's the worst possible thing you can do to this child? To dye her hair. Why? Because you are confirming her fears. You are telling her: "They are right. There really is something wrong with red hair. Let's get rid of it."

That's our situation. In one sense, being Jewish is like being born with red hair. It's not popular. There are people who will degrade us for it.

Unless every Jew has a strong understanding of the significance of being Jewish, then, by definition, he is not going to like being Jewish. He is not going to like himself.

What's the best way to get that alternative perception to being Jewish?

The Cause is the Solution

The solution to anti-Semitism is exactly the same as the cause: It is Jewish values and beliefs that cause anti-Semitism, and it will be Jewish values and beliefs that ultimately will eliminate anti-Semitism.

We have been talking and arguing about Mr Icke, well for about the last five years. Regardless of what one thinks of him AND/ OR his content, the subject creates a lot of err... lively debate.

So as a change, I thought there should be an Icke Superthread.

I don't think I have read a full Icke book, rather getting his input via youtube videos.

In 1999, Mr. Icke came out with his most famous book, The Biggest Secret, the book with which he is identified on-screen in Thrive. This book established the central tenet of Mr. Icke’s philosophy: that the world is run by a race of reptilian aliens that can change their shape and appear to be human, and that the world’s political, economic and social systems are a colossal conspiracy by these evil aliens to enslave mankind. These aliens are supposedly from the constellation Draco, but also from another dimension. Is There Any Evidence to Support David Icke’s Theories?

There is not a single shred of evidence anywhere in the world to suggest that (1) shape-shifting reptilian aliens from the constellation Draco actually exist; (2) various world leaders, celebrities and country-western stars are actually reptilian shape-shifting aliens from the constellation Draco; or (3) that there is a such thing as an “Illuminati,” a “New World Order” or a “Global Domination Agenda.” On this blog, I have already debunked the Global Domination Agenda and demonstrated why we can be certain that it does not exist. All of the so-called “evidence” produced by Mr. Icke and/or his supporters falls along exactly the same lines as the discussion in that article about why evidence proffered by Illuminati/NWO/GDA believers does not, in fact, prove the existence of this group or their supposed agenda. A favorite activity of believers in Mr. Icke’s fantastic delusional scenarios is to scrutinize videos on YouTube of world leaders suspected of being reptilians for “evidence” of them changing from their human into their reptilian form. Sometimes believers will seize upon a glitch or anomaly in the video, often lasting only split seconds, and trumpet it as “proof” that the person is “changing into a reptile in front of our eyes!” Often the culprit will be a bulging vein in the person’s neck, a common retinal flash (red-eye), or a pixellation error in the streaming video which the believer insists makes the person look like they have “lizard eyes.” For some reason, former presidents Bill Clinton and George H.W. Bush are favorite targets for this ludicrous accusation. Here is an example of a video which reptilian believers cite as total vindication of Mr. Icke’s claims........................What Do David Icke’s Theories Really Mean?

The problem with Mr. Icke’s false assertions is that they are essentially science-fiction redresses of the old “Jewish world conspiracy” theories from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with reptilian shape-shifting aliens from Draco standing in for Jews. Mr. Icke even believes in the authenticity of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, a notorious anti-Semitic forgery that was proven false almost a century ago. Of course, in Mr. Icke’s mythology, it was not the Jews who wrote about their plans of world domination in the Protocols, but aliens.

Michael Barkun, an academic researcher who studies comparative religion, wrote a book called A Culture of Conspiracy: Apocalyptic Visions in Contemporary America (Berkeley: University of California Press, 2003). Dr. Barkun is the leading scholarly expert on conspiracy theorists in the United States today. On page 104, in a chapter where Dr. Barkun describes the conspiracist ideology of Mr. Icke, he says:

“This set of nested conspiracies [described by David Icke] achieves its goals through control of the ‘world financial system’ and its mastery of ‘mind control’ techniques. Its goal is a ‘plan that, according to Icke, had been laid out in The Protocols of the Elders of Zion. Although Icke is careful to suggest…that the Illuminati rather than the Jews wrote The Protocols, this is the first of a number of instances in which Icke moves into the dangerous terrain of anti-Semitism.”

The reason that aliens became stand-ins for Jews has to do with the evolution of conspiracy theory during the 1980s and 1990s, when right-wing militia conspiracy milieu (think Timothy McVeigh) became intertwined with the UFO/alien subculture. Dr. Barkun states, on page 144:

“This type of speculation projects terrestrial racial categories onto creatures from outer space….Such racial classificatory schemata are common among those who argue for multiple types of alien visitors. Even among writers who most unambiguously reject anti-Semitism, the alien racial types disquietingly appear to reproduce old stereotypes. The evil Grays are dwarfish with grotesque features—not unlike stereotypes of the short, swarthy, hook-nosed Jew of European anti-Semitic folklore. They are contrasted to the tall, virtuous Nordics or Aryans. Although there is little to suggest that those who employ such terms do so to make direct parallels to earthbound categories, the images seem clearly to be refracted versions of older racial anti-Semitism.”

This is useful background, but it isn’t really about Mr. Icke per se. However, Dr. Barkun does get there, after discussing how conspiracists like David Icke are inconsistent about proclaiming to not be anti-Semitic while advancing clearly anti-Semitic theories:

“David Icke also seeks to have it both ways, simultaneously claiming to be offended at the thought that anyone might find him anti-Semitic and hinting at the dark activities of Jewish elites. He protests that the charge of anti-Semitism is merely a ruse to silence truth seekers, a tactic of the shadowy ‘Global Elite,’ who ‘denounce anyone who gets closer to the truth as an anti-Semite.’ According to Icke, the Anti-Defamation League is the conspiracy’s tool for silencing ‘researchers who are getting too close to the truth about the global conspiracy.’…

The more strongly Icke is condemned for anti-Semitism, the stranger are his protestations of innocence. He attacks alleged exploiters of the Jewish people, including B’nai B’rith, which he identifies as the Rothschilds’ ‘intelligence arm,’ used to ‘defame and destroy legitimate researchers with the label anti-Semitic.’ It was supposedly the Rothschilds who brought Hitler to power, created Zionism, and ‘control the State of Israel.’…Icke and other UFO anti-Semites obsess about ‘Jewish bankers.’ They are alleged to be the international wire-pullers behind countless episodes of national collapse and international turmoil. If one listens to anti-Israel rhetoric, it is often spoken about how Israel is committing a genocide against the Palestinian people. But this disgusting libel couldn’t be further from the truth. Consider the following.

First of all, what exactly is genocide? The dictonary states that it is the deliberate killing of a large group of people, esp. those of a particular ethnic group or nation.

Israel has never targeted the Palestinian people or those of Arab ethnicity for a genocide. In Israel, Arab citizens have equal rights to Israeli ones. Over half of Israeli Arabs have stated, in various polls [1] [2] [3], that they would not give up their Israeli citizenship for citizenship in a Palestinian state. Why would they wish to retain their Israeli nationality if a genocide were being committed against them?

And how about Palestinians who don’t have Israeli citizenship, those that live in Gaza and Judea and Samaria? Debunking a genocide there is a case of simple statistics.

From 2000, 4,228 Palestinians have been killed. In 2007, 65% of Palestinian deaths resulted from internal conflict rather than Israeli operations. 59% of civilian casualties otherwise were a result of an Israeli military operation. 69% of Israeli casualties were civilian. The source for this is the United Nations itself. Numbers such as these do not represent a genocide, in which large amounts of people are killed by others in a short span of time.

From the founding of the State of Israel (1948 to now), somewhere between 15,000 and 1.5 million Palestinians have been killed - I have not been able to find a constant statistic at all, as many different sites had different numbers. This number is inclusive of civilian casualties, militant casualties, Palestinian infighting, and Palestinians killed by other Arabs (such as those who died in the Black September War with Jordan). In comparison, 14 million people were killed by Hitler in a span of approximately six years, 1.7 million people in Cambodia in a span of four years, and 800,000 people killed in 100 days in Rwanda, almost all civilian and almost none from infighting.

Also, Palestinian population growth is immense. From 1990, the population has doubled in size. Such demographic trends do not occur when a genocide is present. Yoo Hoo

Israel also gives more aid to the Palestinian territories than any other nation. Just a few days ago, on September 26th, Israel sent more than 7,000 tons of goods, gas, and even construction materials to Gaza. Regardless as to why you believe the Palestinians need aid, it cannot be disputed that Israel is their biggest supplier. A nation committing genocide does not give such charity to the people they are supposedly trying to kill.

Refuting genocide in Israel/Palestine is a very basic and yet is quite a necessary thing to do. Don’t be brainwashed by such a hateful claim that is, as you have just learned, hideous propaganda.
