A KEY part of human rights law that has let
illegal immigrants and foreign criminals stay in Britain on the grounds
of their “right to a family life” is to be reviewed.

Home Secretary Theresa May is expected to announce the move this week.
The
forthcoming consultation on “family immigration rights” will include a
review of how UK law interprets Article 8 of the European Convention of
Human rights.
This will seek to ensure the law is applied in a “more balanced way”, sources said.
It follows cases where criminals have been able to use Article 8 to escape deportation.
These
include a Caribbean drug dealer, who allegedly beat his partner and
refused to pay child maintenance, as well as a Sri Lankan robber, who
claimed the right to remain because he had a girlfriend here.
Fears
were also raised yesterday that a loophole has been created for people
to bring their family members here.
A
woman, who fled war-torn Burundi in Africa as an asylum-seeker and was
one of 161,000 allowed to stay after the Home Office lost her files, has
secured permission to bring her three children here under Article 8.

Her status would not normally have given her the right to bring in dependants.
A
second similar case, involving a mother who fled Rwanda in 2002, is
being considered by a judge raising fears that less deserving applicants
will benefit from the rulings.
The Home Office insisted yesterday it did not believe the two cases set any precedent.
A
spokesman said: “Article 8 does not give an absolute right to remain
here. We will continue to remove those who break the rules to play the
system.’’
But he added:
“We are going to consult on the family route shortly and look at the
requirements we should place on foreign nationals wishing to establish a
family life in the UK.
“This is part of a package of reforms we are putting in place to manage migration.’’
Conservative
MP Mark Reckless, a member of the Commons Home Affairs Committee, said:
“I’m delighted if Article 8 is to be reviewed.
“It
is used by judges to drive a coach and horses through our immigration
controls. It doesn’t seem to be used in a similar way in other
countries.’’
Last week
there was outrage after a test case court ruling left the Home Office
unable to deport more than 200 immigrants, mostly criminals, after
judges in Strasbourg decided sending them home would breach Article 3 of
the European Convention, which bans inhumane treatment.
The
serial criminal who brought the test case, Abdisamad Sufi, 24, has at
least 17 convictions for crimes including burglary, fraud and indecent
exposure since he arrived eight years ago and had his asylum claim rejected.
Last
night, the Home Office declined to comment on a claim that Downing
Street sided with the Lib Dems to defeat a bid by Mrs May and
Immigration Minister Damian Green to cap the number of foreign students
allowed to work in Britain after completing their studies.
Meanwhile Shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper yesterday accused the Government of not being tough enough on border policy.
She
admitted Labour should have acted more quickly to bring in a
points-based system to control non-EU immigration but claimed the
Coalition will not meet its target of cutting numbers from hundreds to
tens of thousands a year.
Ms Cooper said: “There is a massive gap between the rhetoric from the Government and the reality of the policies they are pursuing.”

Just to go back to the last movie I watched I am Legend and staring Will Smith.

virus and had to be strangled. Also in the movie I noticed it showed the
name Hughes which is the family name of my Mother (whether that was a
plant, or not I don't know).

As I've said before, there is a bar here called the Bamboo Bar and there
was also a guy who had purchased a Ninja Kawasaki bike. They also sell
Tiger Beer and also Singha Beer, InBev.

These bears I believe react with my teeth causing me problems with my head.
In the (There'll Be Bluebirds Over) The White Cliffs of Dover song,
you also see Bluebirds and Bluebird reminds me of Donald Campbell,
notice the Chequered squares on his helmet.

There is a Chequers bars here in Thailand (Bangkok) where I asked for
a steak Medium to Well done and it came back Rare, which is one thing
I don't like, is Raw Meat.

HORRIFIC footage of the aftermath
of the 1996 Port Arthur massacre
has been uploaded on YouTube.

Police aretrying to trace
the account holder,
whose uploaded under
the alias "FreeMartinBryant".

The nine-minute evidence video
was stolen from the Tasmanian Police archive.
It
contains graphic images of some of the 35 people shot dead at the
tourist spot, and police last night were trying to have it removed from
the internet.
FreeMartinBryant's user profile contains more than
20 videos pertaining to "conspiracies" surrounding the events of Port
Arthur, with several videos pertaining to Bryant's "innocence".
It is unknown how the footage was obtained,
but it also appeared on the internet in 2004 .
"Unfortunately
this isn't the first time that this training video has turned up in the
wider community," Deputy Commissioner Scott Tilyard said.

"It has been known for some years that copies of the police training video have found their way into the public domain.
"A copy was located at a public tip in 2004, which led to an investigation."
Police Minister David O'Byrne said the footage was unlikely to have been stolen recently.
The video archive was upgraded in 2004.
"Tasmania
Police changed their procedures after discovering the material may be
in the public domain, in 2004," he said. "I'm advised no breach has
occurred since then and that the current procedures for handling such
material are secure."
Police are greatly concerned about the effect the video could have on the wider community.
"It
is highly distressing not only for the families of the victims, but for
the community, for these images to be available on the internet," Mr
Tilyard said.
Trauma psychologist Paul Stevenson, who worked for
many years with many of the survivors and victims' families, shared the
disbelief and horror about the posted video.

"To post this is a nasty, terrible thing to have occurred," the Brisbane-based consultant psychologist said.
"By
watching or hearing it is a re-experience - all of those things people
felt at the time come back. The tragedy occurs all over.
"This is very distressing ...
a real worry for families of victims
because
this is exactly what triggers
post-traumatic stress."

Hobart has put on a chilly welcome for Dutch royals the Prince
of Orange Willem-Alexander and Princess Maxima.

Premier Paul Lennon and Governor William Cox braved icy winds to
meet the royal couple from the Netherlands at Hobart airport on
Wednesday afternoon.

"We are very pleased and honoured that their royal highnesses
have chosen to include Tasmania in their Australian visit," Mr
Lennon said.

"I am particularly delighted that the royal couple has chosen to
spend two days in Tasmania visiting a number of our
attractions.

"Dutch explorer Abel Tasman was the first European to sight the
state that now bears his name and the steady stream of Dutch

The couple's itinerary includes a tour of the Tasmanian Museum
and Art Gallery, a visit to Port Arthur and a private reception for
the Dutch community at the Henry Jones Art hotel.

The couple is in Australia on an official visit to celebrate 400
years since Dutch explorers landed on the coast of Western
Australia.

They will fly to Sydney on Thursday afternoon and from there
they will travel to New Zealand.

pilots aboard a China-bound Boeing 747 cargo jet were killed when it
crashed off South Korea after experiencing mechanical problems.

The plane, which was flying for South Korea's Asiana

A South Korean coast guard boat found debris from the jet
in waters about 107km (66 miles) west of Jeju city.

After taking off at 0305 (1800 GMT) the plane disappeared
from radar at 0409 while trying to reach Jeju airport, the South Korean
news agency Yonhap reports. The wreckage was spotted at 0640.

Both the pilot and co-pilot were killed.

Heavy rain has lashed South Korea this week, with landslides
and floods killing dozens and causing havoc, but Asiana Airlines said it
was unclear whether the weather had caused any problems for the plane.

The 747, nicknamed the Jumbo Jet, has been in service around the world
for more than four decades, and is still in production.
