THE grieving father of a 7/7 bombing victim
yesterday challenged newspaper owner Rupert Murdoch to a face-to-face
meeting after being told that snoopers may have tried to eavesdrop on
his mobile phone.
Graham Foulkes, whose son David died in the
terrorist attack, wants an “in-depth discussion” with the global media
tycoon about “power and responsibility.”
Mr
Foulkes has been told by Scotland Yard that he may have been targeted
by a private investigator working for the Murdoch-owned News of the
World. He said: “After the explosions in London, nobody from the
authorities contacted us for some days. We were using our phones
frantically trying to get information on David and where he may have
been, if he was in hospital or whatever, talking to family and friends
about very personal issues.
“To
think these guys may have been listening to that fills you with horror.
We were in a very dark place. We didn’t think that someone out there
could make it even more darker. These people really need to be subject
to the law.
“I would very
much like to meet Rupert Murdoch face to face and have a very in-depth
discussion about responsibility and the power he has and how it should
be used. I want an explanation about how he thinks this is an acceptable
practice.”
Sales manager David Foulkes, 22, died in the Tube blast at Edgware Road station.
Sean
Cassidy, who may also have been targeted after his son Ciaran, 22, also
died in the attacks, said: “I am really appalled by this, I am very
disappointed.”
News International executive Simon Greenberg said requests from Mr Foulkes and others would be considered.

Relatives of soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan may have been victims of News of the World phone hacking.
The Ministry of Defence was seeking
clarification from Scotland Yard as sources said families of dead
servicemen were being contacted by detectives over the scandal.
News
International said it would be "absolutely appalled and horrified" if
there was any truth in the allegations and it would be immediately
contacting the MoD.
MPH Solicitors - whose clients include
Samantha Roberts, widow of one of the first Britons killed in Iraq in
2003 - called for clarity from authorities over the claims.
Solicitor
Geraldine McCool said the firm had been contacted by press on Wednesday
over the allegations surrounding high-profile military inquests in 2006
and 2007. A statement on the firm's website said: "We are making
efforts to verify this information."
A News International
spokesman said: "Our titles have campaigned in support of the military
over many years and will continue to do so. If these allegations are
true we are absolutely appalled and horrified. We will be contacting the
MoD immediately to try and verify the situation."
Ms McCool, a
senior lawyer who represented Mrs Roberts and was instructed at the
inquest of Lance Corporal Michael Pritchard, said there was no evidence
to show confidential information was obtained through hacking. She
added: "Whilst this developing story continues to shock and concern I
confirm that I have never seen a news article that gave rise to concern
that information had been obtained through illegal phone-hacking.
"Solicitors
are cautious when leaving messages due to client confidentiality and my
military clients and their families come from a background that works
on a 'need to know' basis. I sincerely hope that any future revelations
do not involve our clients and that full disclosure of the extent of
this diabolical practice is now made."
Sgt Roberts, from Shipley,
West Yorkshire, was accidentally shot dead by one of his own men when
UK troops opened fire during a riot near Basra, just three days into the
war.
An MoD spokesman said: "This is a matter for the
Metropolitan Police who are investigating these allegations. It would be
inappropriate for us to comment whilst this investigation is ongoing."

POLICE officers framed three men for the murder of a prostitute, a court heard yesterday.
Lynette White, 21, was stabbed 70 times in a
Cardiff brothel, Swansea Crown Court was told. But eight policemen got
together to “mould, manipulate, influence and fabricate evidence”
against five innocent men, the jury heard.
Two
were cleared, but three were found guilty of the 1988 murder and jailed
for life. Known as “the Cardiff Three”, they were her boyfriend Stephen
Miller and friends Yusef Abdullahi and Anthony Paris, all released
after serving two years.
It
took 14 years and advances in DNA technique for the truth to emerge,
the court was told. In 2003, security guard Jeffrey Gafoor was jailed
for life after admitting the murder.
The
retired South Wales officers deny conspiracy to pervert the course of
justice. They are Paul Stephen, 50, Paul Jennings, 51, Graham Mouncher,
59, Richard Powell, 58, Thomas Page, 62, Michael Daniels, 62, Peter
Greenwood, 59, and John Seaford, 62. Violet Perriam, 61, and Ian Massey,
57, who gave evidence at the original trial, deny perjury. The case
continues.

But still man rails at God, falsely accusing Him of lies, contradiction and injustice, when it was He Who, from the beginning warned us, of what would kill us. Then He warned us to Not choose to make Lord over us, The First Liar, the first salesman of the first False 'balance', being the belief that if we know death, we will be 'weighed equal against'  , The Creator of Life. But we already had a taste for the smooth words of sickly sweet and deadly lies, that made the good food and healing medicine of God's Word, seem too bland and too bitter to take. So, by the grace of God's infinite wisdom to give us (a second chance of Living), a perfect Life, truly creating new Life, He foretold and continues to remind us (in every 'small' thing and every 'great' way), of how we could and would come to see, He Exists and Does Keep All His Promises. Such as revealing what we need to know, when we need to know it, throughout this (death contaminated) age of the world, by the truth and lies of a world full of-: unproductive farmers, lazy workers, thieving guards, cruel parents, jealous siblings, false friends, selfish ministers, envious neighbours, seductive strangers, vain advisers, poisonous entertainers, hateful lovers, murderous healers, sadistic nurses, criminal police, proud fools, stupid teachers, deluded gurus, blind guides, corrupt courts, destructive kings, traitorous servants... ...lost prophets...found jewels... ...willing slaves, fair taskmasters, righteous soldiers, benevolent dictators...all the (equally 'small' and 'great'), uniquely individual roles we're each called to (that, answered, or not), do all add up to prove the diligent and constant, sifting and sorting of (and blowing away, of the empty husks trying to hide among), the Living seeds being Holy reserved for the perfectly timed and ordered, re-planting (on this earth), of The Kingdom of God's, Holy Life Creating, Family. Basically, if you believe you've found a contradiction in God's perfect contract between Him and mankind, it's only because you haven't searched carefully enough to find the caveats and clauses covering what you believe to be injustices, that actually free the unjustly 'imprisoned' and 'pronounce sentence against' the unrepentant guilty. There is no man, judge, court or power that can break, The Perfect Contract, written for us to Live by, by The First and Last and Perfect Judge...Thank God! |

PHONE hacking and other illegal behaviour has been widespread
at several British tabloids,
says a former investigative reporter
for the News of the World, Paul McMullan.
The pub owner and freelance journalist
declined to name mastheads,
but noted he had previously
worked for The Sun,
another title owned by
Rupert Murdoch's News International.
It was ''spot on'' to suggest the techniques were common practice,
he told ABC 24.
In April, the actor Hugh Grant secretly recorded McMullan saying
the Daily Mail also hacked phones to get stories.
''They were as dirty as anyone,'' he said. ''They had the most money.''

I'll tell you what shits me about myself.
I sat by,while my drunken ex-friend,touched a ten year old girls arse,three times and I did nothing and covered it up.I weighed knowing him well to this being a one time event.I saw instantly I was going to have trouble with the police.The mother of child was trying a way at that time,to leave ex-mate and halve property value on exit.I made myself sick why should I be put here.I went against everything I thought I believed in.I looked like a politician burying his "good old boys" dirty laundry,through usual clan type and fraternal thinking guys do...I felt sick to my stomach for all involved,for a small incident,no-one would care about.Plus,ex-mate,is violent not sexual pursuasion type of guy...he calls his "new woman" Starfish,for no reason,cause she lays there spread-eagle,not moving in the bedroom....errr,anyway.
I held that for four years...and if I get allocated in some perversion with some child porn,like Droike did,or Vera Susa/True Lilly calling me baby-fucker,I tend to get mental,go off my head,irrational and want to kill,but near have a farking coronary,cause I can't reach through the screen to choke the shit out of ya,hard enough looking at yourself like that,than having it twisted out of proportion.

not something one would want to pick through the details of), I'll simply post my reply
to his, not at all private, message to me on the same subjects, which though I didn't
bother answering point for point, will give you a sound and clear overview of 'his' problem with my character.
Hey, it was pretty hard to forget what 'you & ciggy' wrote and wrote and kept writing,
in my threads, in 'your' way off topic derailing exercise, and as WE FULL WELL KNOW,
simply 'discussing' 'that SICK topic' is a CALL OUT to the like (EVIL) minded, who DO
KNOW HOW to OPEN SECRET LINKS...as do those who do work to hunt and rid the world
of 'that' DISEASE.
btw, my Best Friends have always been Gentlemen, and it was an ex-copper who

has been uploaded on YouTube.
Police aretrying to trace
the account holder,
whose uploaded under
the alias "FreeMartinBryant".
The nine-minute evidence video
was stolen from the Tasmanian Police archive.
It
contains graphic images of some of the 35 people shot dead at the
tourist spot, and police last night were trying to have it removed from
the internet.
FreeMartinBryant's user profile contains more than
20 videos pertaining to "conspiracies" surrounding the events of Port
Arthur, with several videos pertaining to Bryant's "innocence".
It is unknown how the footage was obtained,
but it also appeared on the internet in 2004 .
"Unfortunately
this isn't the first time that this training video has turned up in the
wider community," Deputy Commissioner Scott Tilyard said.
Related Coverage
"A copy was located at a public tip in 2004, which led to an investigation."
Police Minister David O'Byrne said the footage was unlikely to have been stolen recently.
The video archive was upgraded in 2004.
"Tasmania
Police changed their procedures after discovering the material may be
in the public domain, in 2004," he said. "I'm advised no breach has
occurred since then and that the current procedures for handling such
material are secure."
Police are greatly concerned about the effect the video could have on the wider community.
"It
is highly distressing not only for the families of the victims, but for
the community, for these images to be available on the internet," Mr
Tilyard said.
Trauma psychologist Paul Stevenson, who worked for
many years with many of the survivors and victims' families, shared the
disbelief and horror about the posted video.
"To post this is a nasty, terrible thing to have occurred," the Brisbane-based consultant psychologist said.
"By
watching or hearing it is a re-experience - all of those things people
felt at the time come back. The tragedy occurs all over.
"This is very distressing ...
a real worry for families of victims
because
this is exactly what triggers
post-traumatic stress."

Hobart has put on a chilly welcome for Dutch royals the Prince
of Orange Willem-Alexander and Princess Maxima.
Premier Paul Lennon and Governor William Cox braved icy winds to
meet the royal couple from the Netherlands at Hobart airport on
Wednesday afternoon.
"We are very pleased and honoured that their royal highnesses
have chosen to include Tasmania in their Australian visit," Mr
Lennon said.
"I am particularly delighted that the royal couple has chosen to
spend two days in Tasmania visiting a number of our
attractions.
"Dutch explorer Abel Tasman was the first European to sight the
state that now bears his name and the steady stream of Dutch

The couple's itinerary includes a tour of the Tasmanian Museum

HORRIFIC footage of the aftermath
of the 1996 Port Arthur massacre
has been uploaded on YouTube.
Police aretrying to trace
the account holder,
whose uploaded under
the alias "FreeMartinBryant".
The nine-minute evidence video
was stolen from the Tasmanian Police archive.
It
contains graphic images of some of the 35 people shot dead at the
tourist spot, and police last night were trying to have it removed from
the internet.
FreeMartinBryant's user profile contains more than
20 videos pertaining to "conspiracies" surrounding the events of Port
Arthur, with several videos pertaining to Bryant's "innocence".
It is unknown how the footage was obtained,
but it also appeared on the internet in 2004 .
"Unfortunately
this isn't the first time that this training video has turned up in the
wider community," Deputy Commissioner Scott Tilyard said.

"A copy was located at a public tip in 2004, which led to an investigation."
Police Minister David O'Byrne said the footage was unlikely to have been stolen recently.
The video archive was upgraded in 2004.
"Tasmania
Police changed their procedures after discovering the material may be
in the public domain, in 2004," he said. "I'm advised no breach has
occurred since then and that the current procedures for handling such
material are secure."
Police are greatly concerned about the effect the video could have on the wider community.
"It
is highly distressing not only for the families of the victims, but for
the community, for these images to be available on the internet," Mr
Tilyard said.
Trauma psychologist Paul Stevenson, who worked for
many years with many of the survivors and victims' families, shared the
disbelief and horror about the posted video.
"To post this is a nasty, terrible thing to have occurred," the Brisbane-based consultant psychologist said.
"By
watching or hearing it is a re-experience - all of those things people
felt at the time come back. The tragedy occurs all over.
"This is very distressing ...
a real worry for families of victims
because
this is exactly what triggers
post-traumatic stress."

Hobart has put on a chilly welcome for Dutch royals the Prince
of Orange Willem-Alexander and Princess Maxima.
Premier Paul Lennon and Governor William Cox braved icy winds to
meet the royal couple from the Netherlands at Hobart airport on
Wednesday afternoon.
"We are very pleased and honoured that their royal highnesses
have chosen to include Tasmania in their Australian visit," Mr
Lennon said.
"I am particularly delighted that the royal couple has chosen to
spend two days in Tasmania visiting a number of our
attractions.
"Dutch explorer Abel Tasman was the first European to sight the
state that now bears his name and the steady stream of Dutch
migrants to Tasmania have made an enormous contribution in so many
areas."
The couple's itinerary includes a tour of the Tasmanian Museum
and Art Gallery, a visit to Port Arthur and a private reception for
the Dutch community at the Henry Jones Art hotel.
The couple is in Australia on an official visit to celebrate 400
years since Dutch explorers landed on the coast of Western
Australia.
They will fly to Sydney on Thursday afternoon and from there
they will travel to New Zealand.

POLICE have admitted they're all but helpless to stop the
circulation of a video that depicts the horrific footage of the
aftermath of the Port Arthur massacre.
The footage, uploaded onto the video-sharing website YouTube, shows
graphic images of some of the 35 people shot by Martin Bryant during
his 1996 killing-spree.
The nine-minute video was initially used for police training
but went missing from the Tasmanian Police archive.
In 2004, Police interviewed a person who was selling copies of the video at a public market.
Tasmania Police deputy commissioner Scott Tilyard says police cannot stop the video's continued circulation.
"Unfortunately,
since unauthorised copies were made many years ago, it is all but
impossible to ensure that these images are not posted on, and circulated
via, internet-based technologies."

training materials also were not as stringent at that time as they are
today," he said.
"Tasmania Police has since implemented special
high-level storage and access arrangements in respect to all Port Arthur

Police can't stop Port Arthur victim video

POLICE have admitted they're all but helpless to stop the
circulation of a video that depicts the horrific footage of the
aftermath of the Port Arthur massacre.
The footage, uploaded onto the video-sharing website YouTube, shows
graphic images of some of the 35 people shot by Martin Bryant during
his 1996 killing-spree.
The nine-minute video was initially used for police training
but went missing from the Tasmanian Police archive.
In 2004, Police interviewed a person who was selling copies of the video at a public market.
Tasmania Police deputy commissioner Scott Tilyard says police cannot stop the video's continued circulation.
"Unfortunately,
since unauthorised copies were made many years ago, it is all but
impossible to ensure that these images are not posted on, and circulated
via, internet-based technologies."

For this reason, police say they requested Hobart's daily newspaper, The Mercury, not to publicise details of the video.

the internet posting of the video serves only to draw attention to it
and notoriety to those who posted it," Mr Tilyard said. "There is
nothing positive to be gained by increased media exposure of this
incident."
Mr Tilyard says YouTube did not exist at the time the
video was used for evidence and training, and police had not envisaged
the ease with which videos could find a wide audience.
"Security
arrangements in respect to storage and handling of these types of
training materials also were not as stringent at that time as they are
today," he said.
"Tasmania Police has since implemented special
high-level storage and access arrangements in respect to all Port Arthur

Maybe He did. Then again, maybe He didn’t. One can never know. The claim is inherently unverifiable.
Personal revelation is an extremely weak basis for a religion since one can never know if it is indeed true. Even if the individual claiming personal revelation performs miracles, there is still no verification that he is a genuine prophet. Miracles do not prove anything. All they show—assuming they are genuine—is that he has certain powers. It has nothing to do with his claim of prophecy................................There are 15,000 known religions in all of recorded history. Given this inherent weakness, why do all of them base their claim on personal revelation? If someone wanted their religion to be accepted, why wouldn’t they present the strongest, most believable claim possible—i.e. national revelation! It’s far more credible. No one has to take a leap of faith and blindly trust just one person’s word. It is qualitatively better to claim that God came to everyone, telling the entire group that so-and-so is His prophet.
Why would God establish His entire relationship with a nation through one man, without any possibility of verification, and still expect this nation to obediently follow an entire system of instructions, based only on blind faith?
Yet, Judaism is the only religion in the annals of history that makes the best of all claims—that everyone heard God speak. No other religion claims the experience of national revelation. Why?
..................Let’s summarize two primary questions:
1. Out of 15,000 known religions in recorded history, why is Judaism the only one that claims national revelation, the best of all claims? Why do all other religions base themselves on the inherently weak assertion of personal revelation?
2. If Judaism’s claim is indeed an example of a successful hoax that falsely asserts national revelation, the author just got away with passing off the best possible claim, and others will certainly follow suit. Why then would he predict that no one else will ever make a similar claim, a prediction he knows he cannot foresee, and whose outcome is likely to be the exact opposite?
There is one simple answer to both questions. A national revelation—as opposed to personal revelation—is the one lie you cannot get away with. It is one event you cannot fabricate. The only way to make this claim is if it actually happened.
If the claim is true, the people will believe it because they are agreeing to something they already know. Either they personally witnessed it, or their ancestors collectively passed down the account as part of their nation’s accepted history.
If the claim is false, it’s like trying to convince you that God spoke to you or your parents and somehow you never heard of it. No one would ever accept such a claim.
Therefore no other religion has ever made the best of all claims, because it is the one claim that can only be made if it is true. One cannot pass national revelation off as a hoax.
When inventing a religion, the originator must resort to personal revelation, despite its inherent weakness, since it is a claim that is unverifiable. The originator can hope to find adherents willing to take a leap of faith and accept his or her religion. After all, no one can ever know it is a lie. [Of course, no one can know if it’s true either.] This simply cannot work with national revelation since it’s the one claim that everyone will know is a lie.
Only Judaism can claim national revelation since the Jewish people is the only nation in the history of mankind who ever experienced it.

HORRIFIC footage of the aftermath
of the 1996 Port Arthur massacre
has been uploaded on YouTube.
Police aretrying to trace
the account holder,
whose uploaded under
the alias "FreeMartinBryant".
The nine-minute evidence video
was stolen from the Tasmanian Police archive.
It
contains graphic images of some of the 35 people shot dead at the
tourist spot, and police last night were trying to have it removed from
the internet.
FreeMartinBryant's user profile contains more than
20 videos pertaining to "conspiracies" surrounding the events of Port
Arthur, with several videos pertaining to Bryant's "innocence".
It is unknown how the footage was obtained,
but it also appeared on the internet in 2004 .
"Unfortunately
this isn't the first time that this training video has turned up in the
wider community," Deputy Commissioner Scott Tilyard said.

"It has been known for some years that copies of the police training video have found their way into the public domain.
"A copy was located at a public tip in 2004, which led to an investigation."
Police Minister David O'Byrne said the footage was unlikely to have been stolen recently.
The video archive was upgraded in 2004.
"Tasmania
Police changed their procedures after discovering the material may be
in the public domain, in 2004," he said. "I'm advised no breach has
occurred since then and that the current procedures for handling such
material are secure."
Police are greatly concerned about the effect the video could have on the wider community.
"It
is highly distressing not only for the families of the victims, but for
the community, for these images to be available on the internet," Mr
Tilyard said.
Trauma psychologist Paul Stevenson, who worked for
many years with many of the survivors and victims' families, shared the
disbelief and horror about the posted video.
"To post this is a nasty, terrible thing to have occurred," the Brisbane-based consultant psychologist said.
"By
watching or hearing it is a re-experience - all of those things people
felt at the time come back. The tragedy occurs all over.
"This is very distressing ...
a real worry for families of victims
because
this is exactly what triggers
post-traumatic stress."

Hobart has put on a chilly welcome for Dutch royals the Prince
of Orange Willem-Alexander and Princess Maxima.
Premier Paul Lennon and Governor William Cox braved icy winds to
meet the royal couple from the Netherlands at Hobart airport on
Wednesday afternoon.
"We are very pleased and honoured that their royal highnesses
have chosen to include Tasmania in their Australian visit," Mr
Lennon said.
"I am particularly delighted that the royal couple has chosen to
spend two days in Tasmania visiting a number of our
attractions.
"Dutch explorer Abel Tasman was the first European to sight the
state that now bears his name and the steady stream of Dutch
migrants to Tasmania have made an enormous contribution in so many
areas."
The couple's itinerary includes a tour of the Tasmanian Museum
and Art Gallery, a visit to Port Arthur and a private reception for
the Dutch community at the Henry Jones Art hotel.
The couple is in Australia on an official visit to celebrate 400
years since Dutch explorers landed on the coast of Western
Australia.
They will fly to Sydney on Thursday afternoon and from there
they will travel to New Zealand.

'More openness' will prevent attacks
Norway's prime minister Jens Stoltenberg says that
Norwegians will defend themselves by showing they are not afraid of violence.
With all the data Google collects about us and our search
histories, could the company use its technical prowess to help catch
terrorists and mass murderers before they commit crimes?
Norwegian daily Dagbladet reported that
terrorist Anders Breivik spent 200 days searching Google for terms such
as "how to make a bomb" before he went on his rampage.
Already Google uses data from searches to improve its targeted advertising and search rankings - and even to track the spread of the flu - leading academic ideas site The Conversation to ask the question "Why didn't Google catch the Norway killer?"

Speaking to the website, Charles Sturt University
computer science lecturer Craig Wright said he expected people in
European countries to call for search engines to monitor user behaviour
as a result of the attacks.
He said it "would be possible, but extremely difficult"
for Google to monitor searches and raise red flags for users who
frequently and repeatedly perform suspicious searches.
Wright's comments were prescient as in recent days politicians and police across Europe have called for expanded internet monitoring powers as a possible preventative measure.

"There may be moves towards greater monitoring, but less privacy for users," he said.
Already, Wright said, the Australian Federal Police and
the FBI could obtain court orders asking Google to monitor and flag
certain search terms.
Google can monitor or trace specific individuals via its Google accounts, IP addresses or even browser cookies.
Nigel Phair, a former Australian Federal Police officer
who is now a private security consultant, said real-time monitoring of
search queries would be a welcomed "additional intelligence tool for
national security agencies". Google could theoretically be a "good
citizen" and report users it has identified as potentially high risk.
However "you have to get over the privacy hurdles" first, which will be a significant barrier.
Futurist, inventor and judge on ABC's The New Inventors, Mark Pesce, said: "I suspect Chinese search engine Baidu does something like this for the Chinese government."
Professor Sanjay Chawla, head of the school of
information technology at the University of Sydney, is researching how
to make machines and algorithms learn and behave like humans do. For
instance, he is helping the insurance industry design technology to
distinguish between legitimate and fraudulent claims.
Professor Chawla said using Google to spot terrorists was
a tough technical challenge as "it's very hard to train computers or
design algorithms which can distinguish between a terrorist and a
non-terrorist".
"It could work but there will be lots of false positives and that can actually hurt Google more," he said.
"The number of terrorists is actually very small to create a
meaningful profile of what the average terrorist looks like."
In the case of targeted advertising, if Google's
algorithm got it wrong the worst outcome would be slightly reduced
profits. But when picking out terrorists there is a far lower tolerance
for errors.
And the idea of Google regularly monitoring search terms
without a court order would raise significant privacy issues.
"Yes, some kinds of automated monitoring would
occasionally produce a lead. But the leads would be swamped by the
massive false positives," said Roger Clarke, chairman of the Australian
Privacy Foundation.
"And the collateral damage to freedoms would be massive."
Danny Sullivan, editor-in-chief of Search Engine Land,
raised the point that searching for something - for example bomb making
instructions - wasn't the same as actually committing the criminal act.
And he also said that searching for mass murderers could be the thin edge of the wedge.
"Would it only look at things it believes are related to
mass murder? If you were searching for recreational drugs or pirated
content, should that be picked up and reported?" said Sullivan.
Of course, any real-time monitoring would be useless
without law enforcement using it to act. It has been reported that
Breivik was flagged for illegally purchasing a large amount of chemicals
online but Norway's intelligence service decided he was likely to be
using them in his farming business.
Mr Clarke said people with serious intent would find
plenty of ways to get around the monitoring, while the suggestion that
widespread real-time monitoring could enable real-time interventions by
law enforcement agencies was "fantasy land".
But Mr Clarke said he would support tightly targeted
monitoring of people based on reasonable grounds for suspicion and
judicial warrants.
Google Australia declined to comment.

Both
pilots aboard a China-bound Boeing 747 cargo jet were killed when it
crashed off South Korea after experiencing mechanical problems.
The plane, which was flying for South Korea's Asiana
Airlines, came down off Jeju island in the very south of the country,
local media report.
It had left Incheon en route to Pudong in China.
A South Korean coast guard boat found debris from the jet
in waters about 107km (66 miles) west of Jeju city.
After taking off at 0305 (1800 GMT) the plane disappeared
from radar at 0409 while trying to reach Jeju airport, the South Korean
news agency Yonhap reports. The wreckage was spotted at 0640.
Both the pilot and co-pilot were killed.
Heavy rain has lashed South Korea this week, with landslides
and floods killing dozens and causing havoc, but Asiana Airlines said it
was unclear whether the weather had caused any problems for the plane.
The 747, nicknamed the Jumbo Jet, has been in service around the world
for more than four decades, and is still in production.
