Pull of family back in the UK is too much for many, research shows
Emigrants also miss British life and culture

Last updated at 1:06 AM on 2nd November 2011

For decades, the promise of sunny weather, a family-friendly lifestyle and affordable property has driven hundreds of thousands of Britons to make the move to Australia.

But it seems, for many, their dream life Down Under has turned into something of a disappointment.

A record number of Britons left Australia last year, many bored with their ex-pat life and keen to spend more time with family in the UK, research has revealed.

Researchers Mary Holmes, a senior lecturer in sociology at Australia’s Flinders University, and Roger Burrows, of the University of York, studied why so many ‘ping-pong Poms’ are returning home.

They said: ‘A better life is not about good jobs, sunshine or bigger houses.

‘What is most important is feeling close to family and feeling “at home”.’

The researchers added that ‘pursuing this dream life can result in disappointment’.

And for others, not ‘feeling at home’ in Australia was a crucial factor in their decision to leave, the research showed.

One Briton who had left Australia said: ‘Coming back has been a bit like slipping into an old pair of shoes.’

Another told the researchers that since returning to her old home town she had ‘come alive again’ despite having to move into a smaller house, drive a smaller car and having less money.

She said: ‘I love walking everywhere, wrapping up warm, politeness, greenery, quality TV.

PATHETIC, LOSER CHEATS...'Team TINTIN/ICKE'...
...somehow think it was a clever tactic, to live-time hack,
my efforts at trying to post these Currant, Hot, News reports
(along with a bit a of my, real, living human, real life connections
and experiences), but 'they' forget, I'm done warning...I basically
just let what is in the News, remind folk of the validity of
the warnings, that for years, I've been posting to watch for.

I had hoped, that after coming and seeing for himself,
the Blessings (that can't be made, bought or stolen),
and continuing to see those Real, Life Saving Blessings,
that "tintin" might also have found the courage that comes
with true Faith in The Creator of Life (that this little no body
has so richly been blessed with, by Living By That Faith),
and so, repent of his ways, and use his powerful position, for
Doing Justice.

How sad, that instead, he's only worked harder to recruit yet more,
selfish, self-serving, gutless fools, to attack yet more of those who
who are least able to protect and defend themselves,
and how fitting,
that in doing so, he's driven yet more to Remember and Turn To,
THE Creator GOD, Who WARNED US ALL, FROM THE BEGINNING.

Poppy-burning image
leads to Northern Ireland arrests

Police question Coleraine residents after a picture of
two people burning a poppy appears on Facebook

A number of people have been arrested in Northern Ireland after a picture of two youths burning a poppy was posted on Facebook.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland confirmed it was questioning people
from the Coleraine area after the image appeared on the website.

The Royal British Legion member Stephen Phillips, who reported the image
to the police, said he was shocked when he saw it.

"I couldn't believe what I was seeing," he said.

He added that those responsible for such incidents should realise "it
wasn't just Protestants, there were Catholics, there were Muslims, there
were Hindu people who laid their lives down in both world wars".

Robin Swann, an Stormont assembly member for the Ulster Unionist party, also denounced the online image.

"Clearly something is lacking in the lives of these young people and they
deserve our utter contempt. They certainly have no grasp of history or
    current affairs.
If they did they would know that the poppy remembers
the tens of thousands of Irishmen from both traditions who served in the
British army in the first world war, and also those who stood against Hitler
and fascism in the second world war. How anyone could be so ignorant
as to burn a symbol which remembers the fallen is beyond belief," he said.

"The tragic irony is that the freedoms
which the poppy burners both enjoy and abuse
have been paid for by other young men and women
    who have the courage to
put on a uniform and place themselves in harm."

I took my DEERhound POPPY for a walk yesterday
to visit a dear friend, and while there the subject of
attacking the memory of Our Fallen Soldiers came up.
We agreed that was CROSSING A LINE.

The subject of "tintin" SPITTING VENOM at ALL
Our Memorials while he was here, also came up.

I then went to two different supermarkets, were I bought
a POPPY at each. At the second, the gentleman selling
POPPIES, offered to watch my Deerhound, POPPY, while
I shopped. But forgetting I'd spent my cash buying pet
meat, I only had a dollar cash when I got out, so I intend
to go back out today and buy more from him.

As a child, war stories were my bedtime stories. My uncle
was a war casualty soldier in WW2. The only child who my
grandfather didn't manage to bring safely from Eastern
Europe, during WW1, into Yugoslavia, and out of there
after WW2, to AUSTRALIA.

He encouraged us to BE AUSTRALIAN, and BE GRATEFUL
To This Country, while also working for the Ukrainian community,
to help us become productive members of our new, and final
destination, Nation. Not begging from our Government for funding,
but building homes and centers of fund raising For Our New Country.

And he warned us of who the enemy were, who also came
to Australia. That they hadn't left behind, their treacherous,
bloody ways. And though most of my generation didn't want
to believe they could remain as they were in Europe, He was
Right.

LEST WE FORGET.

BURNING poppies or abusing soldiers may no longer be illegal under plans
unveiled yesterday.

Ministers are considering making it legal to use insulting words or actions to
avoid "criminalising free speech".

Yobs can currently be nicked for being "threatening, abusive or insulting".

Tougher rules ... Theresa May

Emdadur Choudhury, 26, was charged last year after burning poppies and five
Muslims were convicted for shouting insults at a homecoming parade.

Ministers have also unveiled plans to let cops make thugs remove "face
coverings" or masks.

But minister James Brokenshire said: "We must make sure any powers do not
trample upon traditional British freedoms."

Meanwhile, tighter laws brought in by Theresa May saw the number of
anti-terror stop and searches fall from 102,504 to 9,652 last year.

With over 50 new political
parties, the upcoming round of elections draw many candidates to Tahrir
Square each week hoping to influence the voters.

“I do have one regret, that on the 11th of February, we accepted to leave the square. Maybe we should have stayed.” - Salma el Tarzi, documentary maker and protester.

"Salma in the Square",
broadcast in February, was one of Foreign Correspondent’s most
memorable stories this year. As protesters occupied Tahrir Square in
central Cairo, refusing to leave in the face of violence, threats and
intimidation from the regime of Hosni Mubarak, we were there, following
the drama through the eyes of a charismatic young rebel, Salma el Tarzi.

Like
so many others, our crew was beaten by pro-government thugs and
detained by military police. Protesters were shot, beaten and injured.

For
eighteen long days and nights no-one knew whether the revolution would
succeed. Eventually President Mubarak stepped down. The Egyptian Army
stayed neutral; the people had triumphed, or so they thought.

Now we're back in Egypt to see what the revolution has delivered.

Despite
military promises to supervise a quick transition to democracy, that
hasn’t happened. Instead we’ve seen state-sponsored thuggery, the
reimposition of censorship, and thousands of military trials where
people convicted have no right of appeal.

Our crew was on hand on
two occasions when Coptic Christians and Muslim allies clashed with
military and police near the government television station.

In
the second clash at least 27 people were killed and three injured.
Foreign Correspondent was one of the few media teams able to enter the
Coptic Hospital morgue where the dead, many of them squashed by armoured
personnel carriers, had been brought.

“You know the army council is trying to kill the revolution.” - Bothaina Kamel, former newsreader and now presidential candidate

Amid
the bloodshed and trouble there are signs of hope as well. Visit Tahrir
Square and you’ll find a democratic nursery, full of passionate
speakers and throbbing sound systems selling the merits of just some of
Egypt’s fifty new political parties.

Bothaina Kamel and Salma el
Tarzi are just two of many women who now have a voice and a more
prominent role in the new Egypt. Kamel has begun campaigning for a
presidential election which may be as far off as 2013.

And we
meet Ghalia Mahmoud, formerly a humble housewife, now Egypt’s latest
television sensation, with her own cooking show featuring local cuisine.

“The old regime did not want to show on TV that 90 per cent
of the population eat this kind of food. They always had these high
class programs, trying to show the rest of the world that Egyptians are
always eating turkey, lamb, and lobster. They didn’t want to show the
real Egypt.”
- Ghalia Mahmoud, television chef

KNIGHT:
Being here in this square back in February on the night that Hosni
Mubarak quit was something that I will simply just never forget. Just to
be around so many people who were exploding with joy and relief and
probably most of all, hope. Well coming back you can still find the hope
but I’m also seeing a lot of anger and confusion.

On the right
day, in the right light, Cairo looks serene. The Nile is a timeless
constant. So too it seems is the struggle for power. The revolution is
far from over.
The rebellion gathered and grew nine months ago at a
busy roundabout in the centre of Cairo. As the world knows well enough
now, it’s a place called Tahrir Square. For 18 days and nights,
Egyptians occupied the centre of the city.

Early on Foreign
Correspondent met one of the revolution’s most impressive young leaders,
Salma el Tarzi and followed her as the mood swung from day to day,
hopes rising and falling that President Hosni Mubarak would give up
power.

SALMA EL TARZI: [During February protest] “It’s
overwhelming because there are so many emotions. It’s so beautiful and
so ugly at the same time but there’s this feeling of pride. Everyone in
this square is walking with their backs straight for the first time in
their lives. We are not animals. We have the right to be people and hold
our heads high”.

KNIGHT: Noor Ayman Noor was also in Tahrir
Square in February on the day the Mubarak regime paid thugs to attack
pro-democracy demonstrators.

NOOR AYMAN NOOR: [During February
protest] “They’re trying to get Egyptians to kill each other. They sent
their supporters with horses and camels so that they can be violent with
us, so that we will kill each other”.

KNIGHT: On the 11th of February, Hosni Mubarak finally stepped down.

SALMA EL TARZI: [During February protest] “I think we’re going to celebrate for another couple of days”.

KNIGHT:
The Egyptian army took over promising it would manage a transition to
democracy. The revolutionaries had won… or so they thought. Now Salma el
Tarzi fears that the army has no intention of going back to the
barracks.

SALMA EL TARZI: “It’s unfortunate that it has to be
this ugly and that the army is forcing the situation that there should
be so much bloodshed but if this is what it takes, then this is what it
takes”.

KNIGHT: Every day, the Egyptian army is looking more and
more like the regime it replaced. This video posted on YouTube has
provoked disgust. It’s hard to watch. It shows soldiers and police
bashing and giving electric shocks to two men they accuse of selling
weapons. This is the sort of brutality for which the Egyptian police
were despised, methods which the army was thought not to practice.

NOOR
AYMAN NOOR: “What breaks my heart is the fact that we all knew it would
be a difficult road after Mubarak left. I just never thought that we’d
be oppressed in the exact same way by very similar people, using the
exact same mechanisms”.

KNIGHT: Noor Ayman Noor is the son of a
prominent Egyptian politician and bears the scars of being a
revolutionary. Aged just twenty-one, all his energies go into resisting
the military’s repression.

NOOR AYMAN NOOR: “People getting
beaten up, people getting killed, people getting arrested, people being
placed on military trials. As well as again using the media to scare
people, to give them the impression that okay the revolution is over,
now it’s time to start building again”.

SALMA EL TARZI: “They’re
just not going to give it to us like this. I mean, let’s be realistic.
These people were running the country for the past 60 years and it would
be very naive to expect that we tell them, okay we want a civil state,
we don’t want you to have anything to do and then they just going to
tell us, okay fine. Take it. I mean it wouldn’t make sense”.

KNIGHT:
Each year Egypt marks the anniversary of the 1973 war with Israel as
Armed Forces Day. The army has traditionally had the trust of the
Egyptian people and that trust was strengthened back in February when
soldiers came onto the street promising not to fire on protesters.

It
was the turning point of the revolution and it paved the way for the
Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, known as SCAF to take over –
promising elections within six months.

The SCAF leader is Field
Marshall Mohammed Tantawi who was Mubarak’s Defence Minister for 20
years and now fills the TV screens once dominated by the President. He
claims progress towards democracy is being made, but many Egyptians have
stopped listening.

BOTHAINA KAMEL: “You know the Army Council,
the SCAF, trying to kill the revolution. We went to the streets on the
25th of January against police and the torture and now we have police
and army police. We have military trials. We have over than 12 thousand
Egyptians accused”.

KNIGHT: Bothaina Kamel was a newsreader on
Egyptian state television until she quit five years ago, saying she
could no longer spruik the government’s propaganda. The revolution has
given her a direction – she’s now running for president.

BOTHAINA
KAMEL: “How to trust army? The mentality of the army is to give orders
and to obey orders. I believe that the army don’t want to give the power
to a civil president. That’s what I believe”.

KNIGHT: When the
military council SCAF announced last month it was bringing back
censorship laws, journalists were furious. In recent months reporters
have been harassed and arrested. Newspapers have been closed and at
Egyptian State Television, very little has changed as Bothaina Kamel
discovered when she appeared on a talk show.

BOTHAINA KAMEL:
[Egyptian talk show] “My program is the revolution’s demands – bread,
freedom and dignity. My slogan is ‘Egypt is my agenda’.”

KNIGHT: State TV management weren’t impressed. The presenter was told to kill the interview.

SHOW
PRESENTER: “Actually, I’m being forced to end the program now. The
producer in the control room has had calls from Dr Sami el-Sherif, head
of the Egyptian television union, ordering us to end this programme now.

BOTHAINA KAMEL: “This is worse than Mubarak’s media”.

KNIGHT: Two days later the army called.

BOTHAINA
KAMEL: “They charged me with insulting a member of the army council and
insulting the army but I said, ‘I respect very much the Egyptian Army
but me and all the Egyptians have the right to criticise the army
council and his politics’. They can’t accept criticising them, but why
we need a revolution?”

KNIGHT: In the working class area of Shoubra, many people are asking the same question.

“So you’re saying the mosques have got louder in recent times?”

DR NAWAL SADAAWI: “Yes. And even after the revolution of course they started under Sadat. We never had that before”.

KNIGHT: Dr Nawal Sadaawi is one of Egypt’s most famous authors and activists and another veteran of Tahrir Square.

DR
NAWAL SADAAWI: “We have a backlash. We have a backlash against the
revolution, against women, against secularism, against equality, against
democracy”.

KNIGHT: This is the problem. Everyone in Egypt has their own idea about what their revolution was about.

“Do you trust the army to steer Egypt towards democracy?”

DR NAWAL SADAAWI: “No. Two things I don’t trust. Military rule and religious rule. We must have a secular civil government”.

KNIGHT: “And what if you don’t get it?”

DR
NAWAL SADAAWI: “We fight for it. Nobody dreamt, I am a very, I am a
woman of struggle, of confrontation you know? I am a fighter, not only a
writer, so I struggle for everything – in my private life and in my
public life – so we never dreamt that Mubarak would leave”.

KNIGHT: The revolution was not just a reaction to the excesses of the regime, it was also driven by the fundamentals of life.
Ghalia Mahmoud is in many ways fairly typical of Egypt’s massive working class.

“So the poverty, was that why you supported the revolution or was there another reason?”

GHALIA
MAHMOUD: “Of course. The revolution grew out of poverty and hunger –
that’s the main reason behind it. Some people had too much, while others
were hungry. That was the reason for the revolution – social justice”.

KNIGHT: “So Ghalia what’s your weekly food budget for your family?”

GHALIA MAHMOUD: “No more than 100 Egyptian pounds for the whole week”.

KNIGHT: “So for about 15 American dollars a week you’re feeding a family of ten, so what do they eat for that much money?”

GHALIA MAHMOUD: “Once a week I’ll feed them chicken or meat. The rest of the week is all vegetables with rice”.

KNIGHT:
While Ghalia still skimps on the household budget, the revolution has
given her a chance to show other Egyptians what they can do.

GHALIA MAHMOUD: [on her TV show] “Welcome my friends – and today is a new and delightful day”.

KNIGHT: It’s changed her life in ways she could never have expected. Ghalia Mahmoud is Egypt’s newest celebrity chef.

GHALIA
MAHMOUD: “Today we’re going to cook breaded marrows in olive oil with
marrows and tomatoes. It’s a beautiful dish – you will enjoy it”.

KNIGHT:
There’s never been a show like this on Egyptian television and not just
because Hosni Mubarak’s wife Suzanne banned women in headscarves from
appearing on screen.

GHALIA MAHMOUD: “The old regime did not
want to show on TV that 90 per cent of the population cook this kind of
food. They always had these high-class programs trying to show the rest
of the world that Egyptians are always eating turkey, lamb and lobster.
They didn’t want to show the real Egypt”.

KNIGHT: Ghalia Mahmoud
was discovered while she was working as a cook for the sister of TV
producer Mohamed Gohar. He knew she’d be perfect for his new station,
called “25” after the January 25th revolution. Channel 25 broadcasts
from a studio in the shadow of the massive state television building. As
we left it that night, we walked straight into demonstrators who were
targeting that TV centre, known as the Maspiro.

Coptic
Christians were demanding that the army keep its promise to protect all
Egyptians. Since the revolution, they’ve come under increasing attack
from Muslim extremists.

MOHAMED ATEF: “The Egyptian revolution
meant for all Egyptians, freedom. But unfortunately the freedom didn’t
reach us until now. Until now we didn’t get it. I am Muslim but I am
talking in the same tongue as my Coptic brothers. The Egyptian
revolution didn’t protect them, didn’t protect their freedom to
religion”.

KNIGHT: Four nights later we’re back near the
government television centre again watching a much bigger rally by
Christians and some of their Muslim allies. Initially they’re attacked
by thugs. Then, there are running street battles with riot police and
soldiers. State TV inflames the situation telling its viewers the army
is coming under attack from Christians and that people should come onto
the streets to help the soldiers.

Armoured vehicles career into
crowds, crushing protestors to death. We heard gunshots, riot police
fired tear gas and charge with batons raised. We’re chased across a
bridge spanning the Nile. State TV reports that three soldiers have been
killed but it says nothing about any other casualties.
At Cairo’s Coptic Hospital we find them. Chaos reigns in the morgue. People are keen to show us the victims.

There’s
only room for three bodies in the refrigerated section. The bodies of
14 others are laid on the floor. Their faces uncovered for their
families to identify them.

“This is not the first time that I’ve
been in a morgue but it would have to be the most distressing. Normally
you’re looking at the bodies that are casualties of war. These are
casualties of something else. I can’t describe the injuries. When a face
is caved in, it doesn’t come from a bullet, it comes from something…
who knows what.

What is also distressing is the way that the
grief here is now turning to anger and outside these walls is the
Egyptian Army. Now this is now where the protest and the riot took
place. It was four or five kilometres away from here, but the Army has
now come here. There are running battles outside in the street. We can’t
leave. No one in here can leave. Why are they there?”

PAULUS ZAKI: “We are Christian. We come for the peace. We only came to Maspiro and we told them we’d finish about 8 o’clock”.

KNIGHT: “They said that you set fire to the police vehicles, that police officers were killed”.

PAULUS
ZAKI: “Yes police officers and the army, the Egyptian Army. I cannot
believe the Egyptian Army has killed Egyptian people. Whatever
nationality we are, we are Egyptian. We cannot believe that. How can you
do this to people, why?”

KNIGHT: At least 27 people were killed and 300 wounded in the worst episode of violence since the revolution.
SCAF called a media conference to defend itself against accusations of murder.

ARMY PERSONNEL: “The Armed Forces would never direct its fire at the people”.

KNIGHT:
“The army claims soldiers didn’t use live ammunition and didn’t
deliberately run over anyone. It blames the deaths on unnamed
infiltrators trying to destroy the revolution”.

SALMA EL TARZI:
“And they always use big words like, ‘foreign conspiracy’, ‘mysterious
powers’, ‘powers of darkness’ and this is not a joke. One of the
statements said ‘the mysterious powers of darkness’. It was like Darth
Vader is invading Cairo. They never tell you who this is but they always
keep it vague and they always make you feel that there is this huge
conspiracy against Egypt and it’s everyone’s duty to really protect it
and the only way to protect it is to kill the people that are
demonstrating in the street”.

KNIGHT: On the night of the Coptic
protest, Channel 25 shows pictures of the melee outside its windows.
Suddenly, armed soldiers burst into its studio. The pregnant news
presenter is terrified. A Christian staffer is beaten up.
Channel 25
protests against the army raid and shuts down. Ghalia Mahmoud’s new
career looks short lived. But in the past week, both Channel 25 and
Ghalia are back on the air.

Many other Egyptians are also finding
that the revolution isn’t delivering change. The economy is paralysed.
Half the population lives on less than two dollars a day. Even in the
fertile Nile Valley, farmers can only afford to lease tiny plots of
land. They’re desperately poor. In the village of Kafr Hemayed there’s
no sanitation and very little running water and electricity. It has only
a junior school and as many as eighty-five students are crammed into
each classroom.

“This village is believed to be the poorest in
the governorate of Giza, although figures are almost impossible to come
by. But it’s exactly the sort of place that was ignored and taken for
granted by the ruling party. No politician of any consequence ever came
here and certainly no one ever felt the need to campaign here, but
tonight that’s going to change”.

Bothaina Kamel wants to be president to improve villagers’ lives yet she’s asking some difficult questions of potential voters.

BOTHAINA
KAMEL: “Do you believe in equality, meaning that the rich and the poor
are equal and that we’re all equal? We must believe that this is the
principle we must fight for – that no Muslim is better than a Christian.
And when we educate, we educate the boy and the girl”.

KNIGHT:
She crashes a wedding party, but no one seems to mind. Her TV profile
probably helps. Most people just seem stunned that someone like her is
actually paying attention to them. At the mayor’s house, village leaders
are pouring out their problems. Bothaina Kamel asks them to swear a
pledge.

BOTHAINA KAMEL: [village leaders repeat after her] “I
swear by the Almighty God I will not go back to my old ways, being a
passive citizen. And that I will not let anyone steal my rights and my
homeland’s rights and my children’s rights”.

KNIGHT: One positive
effect of the February revolution has been the emergence of grass roots
political debate in Egypt. There are now more than 50 new political
parties - and in Tahrir Square come most Friday’s, each sets up its own
stage and PA system, each trying to drown out the others with ear
splitting speeches. The first round of parliamentary elections is due at
the end of the month, but even now after nine months in charge, SCAF
issues contradictory instructions about how those elections will be
conducted. The pro democracy campaigners have no confidence in them.

NOOR
AYMAN NOOR: “We’re going to see lots of bloodshed during these
elections so that the army can come back and say, look we said it before
the Egyptian people aren’t ready now for democracy, there’s going to be
a mini-military takeover, we’re going to take things over until things
are stable again and then we’ll open things up for democracy later”.

KNIGHT:
18 days of defying the Mubarak regime dramatically changed Salma el
Tarzi’s life and while maintaining the rage still dominates her life,
she is getting back to work making documentaries. It’s not easy finding
the balance.

SALMA EL TARZI: “I do not expect the revolution to
be over soon. We are cleaning up the mess of the past, not only 30
years, I believe the past 60 years and it’s not going to happen in nine
months”.

COPTIC GROUP CHANTING: [at funeral] “With our spirit,
with our blood we sacrifice for the Cross. With our spirit, with our
blood we sacrifice for the Cross”.

KNIGHT: When the Coptic
community buried their dead, they called them martyrs. It’s an overused
word in the Middle East, but it’s still highly loaded. As each coffin
arrives, waves of emotion rip through the cathedral. For some the
anguish is too much to bear. Respect for human rights was a key demand
for pro democracy campaigners. While the army initially seemed to
understand this, the slaughter of Egyptian Christians has triggered the
biggest crisis in the country since the revolution.

The military
council intends to hold onto power until the Constitution is rewritten
and a presidential election is held. That could be as late as 2013 – far
too long for an impatient, angry people.

For his loving-kindness is to time indefinite.

From the sunrise and from the sunset,

Sweet asylum deal for Wickham Point near Darwin

by:Steve Lewis

From:Herald Sun

November 05, 2011
12:00AM

THE head of the Paspaley pearling dynasty and a Darwin property
developer have secured a $200 million taxpayer-funded contract to build a
detention centre - without submitting a competitive tender.

The Immigration Department admits usual procurement rules were
short-circuited to meet a "pressing" need to provide accommodation for
asylum seekers.

A lucrative contract was awarded to a joint venture involving Nicholas Paspaley - executive chairman of Paspaley Pearls - and John "Foxy" Robinson.

They will build and manage the new facility at Wickham Point, which is about 35km from Darwin. They have also secured a three-year lease agreement with Immigration.

The first of 1500 asylum seekers are expected to be moved to Wickham Point
within a few months
as the Gillard Government tries to take the pressure
off an over-crowded detention network.

Contracts listed on the Commonwealth's tender website reveal an $114.8
million contract was awarded to Trepang Services Unit Trust through
"direct" procurement.
A further $82.4 million contract was awarded to Wickham Point Development Pty Ltd - again using "direct" procurement.

Company records show Mr Robinson and Mr Paspaley jointly own the two
enterprises - with Mr Robinson and Mark Jagla, who is Paspaley Group's
property manager, listed as directors.

The Paspaley family have expanded their business interests to include aviation,
farming and marine engineering.

Ironically, given his interest in the immigration centre, Mr Paspaley's family fled the Greek island of Castellorizo during WWI.

Mr Robinson
- who just months ago signed a $20.42 million Immigration
contract to let 400 rooms to accommodate asylum seekers
- has just paid
$4.7 million for the city's most expensive home. He did not return calls
yesterday.

Immigration said the contract was "sourced directly
from the developer on the basis of an unsolicited, innovative proposal
that provided timely value for money solution to addressing a pressing
need"
.

Contacted yesterday, Mr Jagla said he was "not in a position" to comment on how the venture secured the $200 million contracts.

Mr Jagla said the development was "not a Paspaley family thing".

Announcing the development in March
, Immigration Minister Chris Bowen said it
provided a "better and more cost-effective option for easing the pressure on detention accommodation".

sBut the Opposition's immigration spokesman Scott Morrison said the Minister must explain why hundreds of millions were being spent "in what appears to be a process
driven by desperation rather than delivering value for taxpayers".

Mr Morrison said there was no suggestion that the providers of the new
facilities at Wickham Point are at fault - but were simply
"providing a
solution to a Government desperate for any answer".

BUT, it is NOT NEWS...so what is it about...did it take this long,
eight months, to discover there was no tender process...is it
just an excuse to advertise their other business's...I'd look into more,
but for that old, REMOTELY TURNING OFF MY P.C., game being played,
so maybe some else might like to do some digging...yeah right...like
this is free and open forum...

Detention centre approved
DAVID WOOD | June 7th, 2011

The Territory Government has giving planning approval for a new detention centre at Wickham Point near Darwin.

The proposed centre is to house 1500 adult male asylum seekers and
will be built by business man John "Foxy" Robinson and the Paspaley
pearling family
35km south east of the city.

It will be leased by the Federal Government for three years.

Leave your comments here.

When announced in March Federal Immigration Minister Chris Bowen said there would be 500 beds filled by this month.

The NT Government is expected to issue a statement this afternoon.

ON A day of bright sunshine and vast expanses of even brighter
sunburn, champion mare Black Caviar turned on a fittingly scorching run
at Flemington to extend her winning streak to a very sweet 16.

In her final Melbourne outing for the year, the mare again
demolished her opposition in the prestige million-dollar sprint, the
Patinack Farm Classic, in a striking repeat of last year's race.

Following
a pattern occurring at every meeting she graces, Black Caviar's
breathtaking run overshadowed the main event of the day, the Emirates
Stakes, the final Group 1 event of the Spring Racing Carnival.

Jockey
Luke Nolen came within a whisker of winning both races after his
Emirates mount, King's Rose, flashed past the post with seven-year-old
Sydney gelding Albert the Fat in a photo finish that rivalled Tuesday's
Melbourne Cup heart-stopper.

A record crowd of 85,112 turned out -
up 8000 on last year, swelled by racegoers eager to see Black Caviar in
the flesh before her spring campaign finished.

It was obvious she was the day's main attraction.
Wild cheering erupted around the track as the field leapt from the starting gates.
The
noise rose to a crescendo as the heroine broke free from the pack
midway down the long Flemington straight to win Australia's grand final
of sprint events by three lengths.

For the second race in a row the size of the field taking on the great mare was just a handful.
Only
six rivals could be found - and three of them were Black Caviar's
stablemates, added to the mix by trainer Peter Moody to fill out the
field.

Unlike the
traditional black and white of Derby Day, the Flemington crowd was a sea
of colour - including swathes of salmon-coloured Caviar flags.

There was a strong turnout of children and teenagers for family day.
Family Fashions on the Field contests provided an extra lure.
The
Kibbis family of Geelong claimed the inaugural Family Fashions, winning
a holiday to Dubai as well as a TV and Myer shopping spree for the
elegant pairing of mother Jacky and nine-year-old daughter Charlie.

Twins
Zakariya and Aaron Sivritas, 7, of Ascot Vale, went one better than
their impressive showing last year in the junior boys category. Last
year they tied for runner-up, but this year Zak - dazzling in white hat,
shoes and jacket and brilliant blue pants - won and Aaron came second.

Mia
Sango, 6, won the junior girls fashion award, while Fedele D'Amico, 15,
of East Brighton, and Millie Wyatt, 15, of Cranbourne, took the senior
boys and girls awards.

Police said the crowd had been the most
challenging of the four-day Melbourne Cup Carnival because of the 30C
heat, which had "fired up" racegoers.

Insp Peter Bull said there had been a few arrests and several people had been evicted for under-age drinking and gambling.
Ambulance staff treated about 600 people, including many who had overindulged in alcohol.

THE world's greatest sprinting thoroughbred did it again at
Flemington today, winning her 16th race from as many starts in much the
same way as the previous 15.

THERE'S a piece of Movietone News footage from 1930 in which jockey
Jim Pike tells an interviewer that the only way the great Phar Lap
will be beaten is "if they breed 'em with wings and get Kingsford-Smith
to ride 'em".

Kingsford-Smith is long gone and there are still no winged horses.

So what hope have they got against Black Caviar?
She jogged up. The two and three-quarter length margin she held over runner-up Buffering was modest. She could have won by 10.
Similarly, the time for the 1200m of the Group One Patinack Farm Classic wasn't so special.
But it easily could have been.
Jockey Luke Nolen earned $60,000 for the 68.32 seconds it took him and Black Caviar to come down the Flemington straight.

Perhaps it was guilt that made him flap his right elbow twice in the
final 150m and make it appear he had something to do with the victory.

A man without Pike's turn of phrase, Nolen stuck to a safe script.
"She's done a good job,'' he said.
Equally overwhelmed, her trainer Peter Moody couldn't avoid the obvious.
"She toyed with them,'' he said. "She's a helluva horse.'"
In
many ways win number 16 was much the same as the others - with one
exception. The massive crowd, which came almost exclusively to see her,
made barely a sound.

As the big mare eased her way past the opposition an eerie, reverent silence came over them.
As she returned to the paddock, they simply stared until Nolen, keen to do something, led the applause from the saddle.

Black Caviar,
horseracing's latest queen,
avoids a goat's name

WOULD Black Caviar have been the phenomenon she is today if her
mum's name hadn't been changed from an original moniker that was
considered more suitable for a goat?

EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: The man in the saddle

The world's fastest racehorse is closer to a comet than a goat, putting together a perfect 12 from 12 record.
Doomben is tipped to be bursting at the seams tomorrow with fans clamouring for a glimpse of racing royalty.
Thankfully, horseracing's latest queen doesn't have a mum named "Like Billy Oh".
Black
Caviar is a daughter of Bel Esprit from Helsinge, who in turn is a
daughter of the very good sprinting mare Scandinavia. Helsinge was
purchased out of the Sydney Easter broodmare sale by Peter Ford on
behalf of Rick Jamieson for $115,000.

Black Caviar

Caviar dines out on Group 1s

Buffering cruising for a third

EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: She's ready to fly

But
you won't find any evidence of a mare named Helsinge being sold. The
transaction is recorded as being for a mare named Like Billy Oh.

"She
was unnamed when she was sold," Ford says. "Because she didn't have a
name Rick sent her to the farm and asked his farm manager and horse
manager to find a name and they came up with Like Billy Oh.

"Rick
said, 'I can't call her that because it sounds like a goat', and he
decided to change the name. He also said those blokes were never naming a
horse for him again.

"So he just got out the map, looked at Scandinavia, pointed at a place called Helsinge and said, 'That'll do'."
Queenslanders
don't mind claiming a foreigner as one of our own just listen to the
cheers for Kempsey's Greg Inglis when he pulls on the maroon jumper each
year and to that end we can at least lay claim to a piece of the Black
Caviar story.

SHUT THE HELL UP ABOUT AUSTRALIA!!! - Page 18 226601-black-caviar-strap

Already we have Queenslanders Peter Moody and Luke Nolen
training and steering her. But her pedigree also has solid links to the
Sunshine State.

Bel Esprit capped his career by winning the 2003
Doomben 10,000; Scandinavia ran race record time for a career best in
the 1998 QTC Cup; and her great grandad was Snippets, who became a
Queensland icon as the inaugural Magic Millions winner and later a top
stallion. Also, the mighty Vain figures in the pedigree.

"It's fantastic she's up in Queensland," Victoria-based Ford said.
"Rick
and I are coming up to 10,000 day. We have never been at the races
together when she's been racing, so we are trying to make it to 10,000
day because it falls around the time of the mare sale on the Gold Coast.
Hopefully we don't put the mock on her." The purchase of Helsinge had
an element of luck. "We decided to try and find a couple of mares in the
Sydney sale and we didn't have any luck," Ford said.

"There was a
supplementary catalogue and I decided to hang around and see what was
in it. I found this unraced two-year-old filly by Desert Sun. I knew she
had made good money as a yearling ($305,000) and she fitted the
criteria, which was to buy a nice type of mare out of a good active
family.

"Scandinavia hadn't produced anything at that stage, but
she soon had Magnus and Wilander, which franked the form of our
selection process. They came to light after her purchase.

"It's a
great thing to be involved in. Every time Rick and I talk we say we
have created the best horse in the world between us," Ford said. "We
laugh and pinch ourselves. You see her and you have a little smile
knowing you had something to do with that."

Jamieson runs 20 mares at his Gilgai Farm, boasting 222ha of prime country on the Goulburn River near Nagambie, Victoria.
Known
as "Harry the Hirer" as his major business is hiring marquees, Jamieson
is meticulous in the choice of stallions. His choice of Bel Esprit for
Helsinge surprised many, but the decision has proved a masterstroke.

"I like to breed horses and almost any spare time I have I will be studying pedigrees," Jamieson says.
"I've
studied pedigrees for 20 years. I have my particular reasons for
sending a mare to a stallion and in this instance it's turned out to be a
good story. I'm not afraid to do a mating from left field. I want a
product, not a price." Jamieson also owns this year's AJC Oaks winner
Absolutely, who was named after a new marquee structure known as the
Absolute.

"Breeding-wise and racing-wise, Rick is on the crest of
a wave," Ford said. "He's put in a lot of money and a lot of time and
he's had a reward or two.

"That's what it's all about and it's great when people put in and they have their day in the sun like he has."
Jamieson
chose to put Black Caviar through the Swettenham Stud draft at the
Melbourne yearling sales in 2008, where the filly brought $210,000.

"Rick
puts in a huge amount of time and it's so satisfying to see his vision
vindicated with Black Caviar," Swettenham's Adam Sangster said.

Sangster's
late father Robert bred and raced the recently deceased Sadler's Wells
and the synergy of having been involved with both the northern
hemisphere legend and the horse rated as the best in Australia for 30
years is one that the Sangster family takes great pride in.

"Any time you can be involved in some way with horses like that is extremely rewarding," he said.

Psalms 105

http://www.blueletterbible.org/Bible.cfm?b=Psa&c=105&v=1&t=KJV#1

1
GIVE thanks to Jehovah, call upon his name,
Make known among the peoples his dealings.

2
Sing to him, make melody to him,
Concern yourselves with all his wonderful works.

3
Make YOUR boast in his holy name.
Let the heart of those seeking Jehovah rejoice.

4
Search for Jehovah and his strength.
Seek his face constantly.

5
Remember his wonderful works that he has performed,
His miracles and the judicial decisions of his mouth,

6
O YOU seed of Abraham his servant,
YOU sons of Jacob, his chosen ones.

7
He is Jehovah our God.
His judicial decisions are in all the earth.

8
He has remembered his covenant even to time indefinite,
The word that he commanded, to a thousand generations,

9
Which [covenant] he concluded with Abraham,
And his sworn statement to Isaac,

10
And which [statement] he kept standing as a regulation even to Jacob,
As an indefinitely lasting covenant even to Israel,

11
Saying: “To you I shall give the land of Ca´naan
As the allotment of YOUR inheritance.”

12
[This was] when they happened to be few in number,
Yes, very few, and alien residents in it.

13
And they kept walking about from nation to nation,
From one kingdom to another people.

14
He did not allow any human to defraud them,
But on their account he reproved kings,

15
[Saying:] “Do not YOU men touch my anointed ones,
And to my prophets do nothing bad.”

16
And he proceeded to call for a famine upon the land;
He broke every rod around which ring-shaped loaves were suspended.

17
He sent ahead of them a man
Who was sold to be a slave, Joseph.

18
With fetters they afflicted his feet,
Into irons his soul came;

19
Until the time that his word came,
The saying of Jehovah itself refined him.

20
The king sent that he might release him,
The ruler of the peoples, that he might let him loose.

21
He set him as master to his household
And as ruler over all his property,

22
To bind his princes agreeably to his soul
And that he might teach wisdom to even his elderly men.

23
And Israel proceeded to come into
Mitsrayim,
And Jacob himself resided as an alien in the land of Ham.

24
And he kept making his people very fruitful,
And gradually made them mightier than their adversaries.

25
He let their heart change to hate his people,
To behave cunningly against his servants.

26
He sent Moses his servant,
Aaron whom he had chosen.

27
They set among them the matters of his signs,
And the miracles in the land of Ham.

28
He sent darkness and so made it dark;
And they did not rebel against his words.

29
He changed their waters into blood,
And proceeded to put their fish to death.

30
Their land swarmed with frogs,
In the interior rooms of their kings.

31
He said that the gadflies should come in,
Gnats in all their territories.

32
He made their downpours hail,
A flaming fire on their land.

33
And he proceeded to strike their vines and their fig trees
And to break the trees of their territory.

34
He said that the locusts should come in,
And a species of locust, even without number.

35
And they went eating all the vegetation in their land;
They also went eating the fruitage of their ground.

36
And he proceeded to strike down every firstborn in their land,
The beginning of all their generative power.

37
And he began to bring them out with silver and gold;
And among his tribes there was no one stumbling along.

38
Mitsrayim
rejoiced when they went out,
For the dread of them had fallen upon them.

39
He spread out a cloud for a screen,
And fire to give light by night.

40
They asked, and he proceeded to bring quails,
And with bread from heaven he kept satisfying them.

41
He opened a rock, and waters began to flow out;
These went through the waterless regions as a river.

42
For he remembered his holy word with Abraham his servant.

43
So he brought out his people with exultation,
His chosen ones even with a joyful cry.

44
And gradually he gave them the lands of the nations,
And they kept taking possession of the product of the hard work of national groups,

45
To the end that they might keep his regulations
And observe his own laws.
Praise Jah, YOU people!

Princes William and Harry ....

in the modern monarchy.

When Prince Harry, proud in the red-collared coat of the Household
Cavalry, laid a wreath at the Cenotaph for the first time on Remembrance
Sunday it was another milestone in his coming of age as a senior member
of the Royal family. Unusually, he took precedence over Prince William,
a future King, because he was representing their father, who was
overseas with the Duchess of Cornwall.

But now the two princes have planted the first seeds of a long public
partnership with the creation of the "Charity Foundation of Prince
William and Prince Harry".

The venture underlines the closeness of the two brothers in a family not noted for its intimacy.

The Queen's four children rarely see each other socially and never
joined forces on specific charitable ventures like the one set up by
Prince William and Prince Harry, which has been registered at the
Charity Commission.

The brothers were always close but the devastating death of their
mother, Diana, Princess of Wales 12 years ago cemented their dependency
on each other. They are living together under the same roof for the
first time since they were teenagers, while they train at RAF Shawbury -
Prince Harry to fly Apache attack helicopters with the Army Air Corps
and Prince William to become a search-and-rescue pilot with the RAF.

Their decision to give at least a third of all the money raised by the
foundation to the welfare of the military, a cause championed by their
father and grandmother, will resonate with the public - a point not lost
on their advisers. The foundation is the most significant expansion of
their public profiles.

The truth is that both Prince William and Prince Harry are in a historically unique position in the modern monarchy.

For the first time since the reign of Queen Victoria both "the heir and the spare" are healthy adults.

Never before has there been a Prince of Wales as old as Prince Charles,
the longest-serving heir to the throne. The Queen, at 83, shows little
sign of slowing down.

Prince William knows his own position could also last decades if his father's health is as robust as his grandmother's.

It is why, at 27 and 25 respectively, the princes are already plotting
their future. They both want to avoid the mistakes made by their father,
who spent decades agonising about his role and purpose in public life.

The foundation will not just be a fitting testament to the legacy of
their mother; it is also a sign that the princes are ahead of their
father at the same stage in their apprenticeships.

The Prince of Wales set up the Prince's Trust, his first charitable
venture, with his $13,400 severance pay from the Royal Navy, while Prince William and Prince Harry could each have another decade in the forces.

Both the Queen and Prince of Wales hope the foundation is a further sign
that the princes have become more comfortable about the unenviable
prospect of devoting their entire lives to public duty in the often
unforgiving eye of the media.

Prince Harry, in particular, still blames the media for the death of his
mother, her car pursued by the Paris paparazzi into the Alma tunnel.

The expansion of their charitable ventures is also shrewd public relations.

Vernon Bogdanor, professor of government at Oxford University, said:
"When the Queen came to the throne, about a third of the population
thought that the monarchy had been ordained by God. They don't think
like that now and they want it to be a utilitarian institution which has
to justify itself and to show the monarchy is relevant and practical.
It's why the princes have embarked on this course.

"It's not easy. There is no prescribed role for the heir to the throne,
let alone the son of the heir and his brother. The Prince of Wales has
become the first to find a proper role for himself and Prince William is
clearly following in his footsteps."

A number of decisions have already been taken by the young princes. They
will studiously avoid courting political controversy, unlike their
father who at 22 was questioning Harold Wilson's government over the
fate of Atlantic salmon years before declining fish stocks figured on
the political agenda.

In the ensuing four decades or so as the warm-up act to the Queen, the
Prince of Wales has been demonised as the adulterer in his disastrous
marriage, criticised for meddling in government affairs and attacked as a
hypocrite who does not practise what he preaches on climate change
because of his lavish lifestyle and penchant for flying the world in
chartered jets.

It is significant that Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, the princes'
increasingly influential private secretary, is a trustee of the charity.
He is helping to plan a more structured career path for them.

When Prince William leaves the RAF he will go on secondment to Parliament, probably in the Speaker's Office, to learn about the drafting of Bills, the parliamentary timetable, and the traditions of the Palace of Westminster, where he will one day make the King's speech.

He will also work in one of the Inns of Court alongside barristers, prosecutors, defence lawyers and judges.

"He will be head of the judiciary one day so he wants to have an understanding of it," said one aide.

He will also spend time working with his charities.

There is the possibility of a diplomatic posting such as Governor-General of Australia or Canada for either of the princes.

Their father was linked to the Canberra post in the 1970s. There would be advantages to a posting in Australia where Kevin Rudd, the prime minister, is an avowed republican.

It is one reason why Prince
William is representing the monarch for the first time overseas next
year in New Zealand and Australia, the most far flung parts of her
realm.

But diplomatic baubles are not in the gift of Clarence House.

"They are a matter for the Australian and Canadian governments. It would not be appropriate for the Royal family to say Prince William or Prince Harry is up for the job,"
an adviser said.

"However, if they were to offer it would be given very serious consideration."

Over the years, Prince William has taken soundings from a number of
eminent figures, including Dr David Starkey, the historian, whose books
on Henry VIII and Elizabeth I have been turned into successful television series.

They both talk endlessly to the Duke of Edinburgh, who has been a valuable source of advice.

One friend said: "No matter how good the advisers in the inner-circle,
the Queen and Prince of Wales give the best possible wise counsel."

Both princes have become closer to their father since the death of their
mother and have observed his restlessness, which was on show as
recently as last November in a documentary to mark his 60th birthday.

When asked if he enjoyed his job, he replied: "Bits of it."

It was their father who encouraged them to stay in the protective
custody of the RAF and the Household Calvary, where they can lead a life
as close as possible to normal, albeit with protection officers by
their side for 24 hours a day.

Unlike other members of the Royal family, they do not have equerries to
lay out their clothes and they do their own ironing in the rented
cottage they share near RAF Shawbury in Shropshire.

The flunkeys who will wait upon them hand and foot (and who will be
officers they have worked alongside) will not arrive until they go back
to civilian life.

Already attitudes are changing; these days most people address them as Prince William and Prince Harry or Your Royal Highness.

While they don't object to being called just William or Harry, even some staff who previously used their Christian names now address them by their titles.

It is another sign that they are turning into central figures in the
House of Windsor, exactly as the Queen and Prince of Wales intended.

In 18 months, the new foundation will be giving out grants, ensuring
that Prince William and Prince Harry increasingly hog the limelight at
the expense of older members of the Royal family, including their
father.

It is ironic, then, that for years the princes, who were the most
reluctant members of the Royal family - not least because of the manner
of the death of their mother - are now seen as the best assets of the
House of Windsor.

The foundation is another sign that the princes have started thinking
about how they can live up to their billing as the future of the House
of Windsor.

DUMPLING fever grips the eastern seaboard.

While Sydney has its branch of international chain Din Tai Fung,
Melbourne's slightly sexier equivalent, Hutong Dumpling Bar,
is about to open a second branch in Prahran.

Hutong, opposite Melbourne's venerable Flower Drum,
has been swamped since opening earlier this year.
The Commercial Road branch due to open next week
will include duck ovens.
Expect chaos and great Shanghai food.

IT sometimes seems Australia's best food
is outside the big cities.

In Tasmania, Daniel Alps in the Tamar Valley
(see The Weekend Australian Magazine, December 5)
is probably the state's finest restaurant
and now The 2010 Adelaide Food Guide has awarded
restaurant of the year to a regional champion:
Fino, at Willunga.
"We love real food that tastes like real food,
fresh, exciting and expressing flavour first
rather than fashion and design,"
said the judges.

On the basis of a visit last week, we agree.
Melburnians may remember chef David Swain
at St Kilda's Veludo in the 1990s;
seems he has made the right decision
returning to regional South Australia.

Sexy when wet for Top End tourism

By Nigel Adlam

Northern Territory News

November 24, 2009 08:09am

TOURISTS are learning that
the wet season is sexy,
a leading Territory tourism figure said.

Top End Tourism president Sylvia Wolf said
visitors loved watching the pavements steam after rain.

”It's very sensual,” she said.
“Our wet season song should be Singing in the Rain.

Ms Wolf said
the big drop-off in tourist numbers at the end of the Dry
had not been anywhere near as sharp as usual this year.

She said this was because of years of hard work
educating people about the glories of the monsoon.
Ms Wolf said
Darwin had much to offer during the wet season –
lushness, fantastic storms and reasonably priced accommodation.

”Now that we've got more accommodation,
the rates are more reasonable.

”There's no ripping off the poor old tourists with inflated prices.”

Ms Wolf said the spectacular success of the
$100 million Darwin Convention Centre
had helped change the tourism season.

The season used to start in April and end abruptly in September.

The Territory Government and tourism industry
began promoting the “shoulder” months –
April-May and September-October –
a few years ago.

And now they are pushing the joys of the Wet.

”A lot of people think
you can't get around during the wet season,
but that's not true,
Ms Wolf said.

”We're educating people and many are not so afraid
to come here during the Wet.”

About 50 southern rural travel agents
visited Darwin earlier last month and
were pleasantly surprised at the weather
and sophistication of the city.

Bookings are already coming through
from that initial familiarisation tour.

"We love real food that tastes like real food,
fresh, exciting and expressing flavour first

said the judges.

On the basis of a visit last week, we agree.
Melburnians may remember chef David Swain
at St Kilda's Veludo in the 1990s;
seems he has made the right decision
returning to regional South Australia.

Sexy when wet for Top End tourism

By Nigel Adlam

Northern Territory News

November 24, 2009 08:09am

TOURISTS are learning that
the wet season is sexy,
a leading Territory tourism figure said.

Top End Tourism president Sylvia Wolf said
visitors loved watching the pavements steam after rain.

”It's very sensual,” she said.
“Our wet season song should be Singing in the Rain.

Ms Wolf said
the big drop-off in tourist numbers at the end of the Dry
had not been anywhere near as sharp as usual this year.

She said this was because of years of hard work
educating people about the glories of the monsoon.
Ms Wolf said
Darwin had much to offer during the wet season –
lushness, fantastic storms and reasonably priced accommodation.

”Now that we've got more accommodation,
the rates are more reasonable.

”There's no ripping off the poor old tourists with inflated prices.”

Ms Wolf said the spectacular success of the
$100 million Darwin Convention Centre
had helped change the tourism season.

The season used to start in April and end abruptly in September.

The Territory Government and tourism industry
began promoting the “shoulder” months –
April-May and September-October –
a few years ago.

And now they are pushing the joys of the Wet.

”A lot of people think
you can't get around during the wet season,
but that's not true,
Ms Wolf said.

”We're educating people and many are not so afraid
to come here during the Wet.”

About 50 southern rural travel agents
visited Darwin earlier last month and
were pleasantly surprised at the weather
and sophistication of the city.

Bookings are already coming through
from that initial familiarisation tour.

Tasmanie or van DIEMENS LAND.
Diemen as DEMON.

DIEMEN in Holland, named after Jan van Diemen.

Diemen or DEMON.

DIEMEN is the most

It's a wealthy suburb of Amsterdam, and a lot

Saw it on Teletext, Diemen most dangerous....
Very surprised because it looks so peaceful.

The biggest MASSACRE in australian history was in
Port Arthur.

Martin bryant was the patsy.

MARTIN. or MARTINI.
Tasmania is named after a GRONINGER and
Groningen City, is the MARTINI-City.

The famous MARTINI tower.
96 meters high.
So a MASSACRE in Port arthur.
So what place did the PRINCE OF ORANGE visited
while in tasmania?

SHUT THE HELL UP ABOUT AUSTRALIA!!! - Page 18 Arthurprins2
Willem alexander in

Martin Bryant.
Killed 35 people.
Well VERA, here is a bit of MAGIC you were asking for.
(yep, for tintin to show his hand)

HARRY POTTER, Dutch
prime minister, born the same
date as MARTIN BRYANT.

He is Jan Peter Balkenende and his nick
is Harry Potter.

the port atrhur Massacre was 28 april.
but when in Holland it's still partly 27 april at the same time.
The PRINCE of ORANGE is born 27 APRIL.

So just to give a bit of background info on
the DUTCH connection to Tasmania.

And the school Bryant went to is
Marcelinn College, run by the MARISTS.
that the SOCIETY of MARY.

Here we have that MARY link.
The Bloodline of MARY Magdalena.

MARCELINN CHAMPAGNAT.
born 20 MAY. 13 days after
the Massacre.
The thirteenth satanic Bloodline.

Now remember, it was under the name, "Cruise",
that "tintin" first said he'd "swim to Tasmania",
and that under the name, "Aarnout van der Plooge",
"tintin" claimed to be from Groningen...and then look
at how this 'EXPERT WITH NUMBERS', gets such simple,
basic math, so 'wrong'...'wrong' my foot!
It's a PLOT SCRIPT!

"The biggest MASSACRE in australian history was in
Port Arthur.

20 MAY. 13 days after
the Massacre.

the port atrhur Massacre was 28 april.

but when in Holland it's still partly 27 april at the same time.
The PRINCE of ORANGE is born 27 APRIL."

So what's with the MAY 20 & 13?
13 May=my birthday.
20 May=my daughter's.

HORRIFIC footage of the aftermath
of the 1996 Port Arthur massacre
has been uploaded on YouTube.

Police aretrying to trace
the account holder,
whose uploaded under
the alias "FreeMartinBryant".

The nine-minute evidence video
was stolen from the Tasmanian Police archive.

It
contains graphic images of some of the 35 people shot dead at the
tourist spot, and police last night were trying to have it removed from
the internet.
FreeMartinBryant's user profile contains more than
20 videos pertaining to "conspiracies"
surrounding the events of Port
Arthur, with several videos pertaining to Bryant's "innocence".
It is unknown how the footage was obtained,
but it also appeared on the internet in 2004 .

"Unfortunately
this isn't the first time that this training video has turned up in the
wider community," Deputy Commissioner Scott Tilyard said.

"It has been known for some years that copies of the police training video have found their way into the public domain.
"A copy was located at a public tip in 2004, which led to an investigation."
Police Minister David O'Byrne said the footage was unlikely to have been stolen recently.
The video archive was upgraded in 2004.
"Tasmania
Police changed their procedures after discovering the material may be
in the public domain, in 2004," he said. "I'm advised no breach has
occurred since then and that the current procedures for handling such
material are secure."
Police are greatly concerned about the effect the video could have on the wider community.
"It
is highly distressing not only for the families of the victims, but for
the community, for these images to be available on the internet," Mr
Tilyard said.
Trauma psychologist Paul Stevenson, who worked for
many years with many of the survivors and victims' families, shared the
disbelief and horror about the posted video.

"To post this is a nasty, terrible thing to have occurred," the Brisbane-based consultant psychologist said.
"By
watching or hearing it is a re-experience - all of those things people
felt at the time come back. The tragedy occurs all over.
"This is very distressing ...
a real worry for families of victims
because
this is exactly what triggers
post-traumatic stress."

Premier Paul Lennon and Governor William Cox braved icy winds to
meet the royal couple from the Netherlands at Hobart airport on
Wednesday afternoon.

"We are very pleased and honoured that their royal highnesses
have chosen to include Tasmania in their Australian visit," Mr
Lennon said.

"I am particularly delighted that the royal couple has chosen to
spend two days in Tasmania visiting a number of our attractions.

"Dutch explorer Abel Tasman was the first European to sight the
state that now bears his name
and the steady stream of Dutch
migrants to Tasmania have made an enormous contribution in so many
areas."

The couple's itinerary includes a tour of the Tasmanian Museum
and Art Gallery, a visit to Port Arthur and a private reception for
the Dutch community at the Henry Jones Art hotel.

The couple is in Australia on an official visit to celebrate 400
years since Dutch explorers landed
on the coast of Western
Australia.

They will fly to Sydney on Thursday afternoon and from there
they will travel to New Zealand.
