Aron Ralston was hiking in the canyons
of Utah when an 800-pound boulder fell on his arm and left him for dead.
Pinned and bleeding for five days, he chose to cut off his own arm as
his only chance of survival. Leveraging the boulder to snap his bone, he
then used a pocketknife to cutaway the surrounding tissue and tendons
and managed to rappel down a 65-foot cliff to stagger to his rescue.

In 1914, Sir Ernest Shackleton assembled a crew for an Antarctic expedition on his ship, Endurance.
With no guarantee of return, but certain glory if they managed, their
tale began as the ship crashed into an ice pack. Stranded in an
unforgiving land and caring only for survival, the crew walked thousands
of miles, floated on icebergs, ate seal blubber and came out battered
but alive an astonishing two years later.

Joe Simpson

Joe Simpson and Simon Yates attempted to scale the Siula Grande
in the Peruvian Andes. In the midst of a blizzard, Simpson fell and
broke his leg leaving it to Yates to get the duo down to safety. Yates
lowered them bit-by-bit until their anchor slipped and left them
dangling precariously. After a silent hour of deliberation, Yates
presumed Simpson to be dead and cut his rope. Simpson fell onto an ice
brige below where despite massive injury, dehydration and hypothermia,
he managed to crawl five miles over the course of three days where he
was reunited with Yates at base camp.

Alexander Selkirk

In 1704, Alexander Selkirk caused some
trouble on his expedition ship and was left to die on an uninhabited
island in the South Pacific. His deserters left him with only a musket,
gunpowder, carpenter’s tools, a knife, a Bible and the clothes on his
back. In total solitude, Alexander managed to survive on the island for
four years and four months before he was eventually discovered and
rescued by a British ship in 1709.

Douglas Mawson

A trio of explorers set out from their
base camp to explore the Antarctic; one teammate fell through an
invisible ice crevasse taking all supplies along with him, another soon
perished due to weakness leaving Douglas Mawson as the sole survivor.
Surviving on the meat from his dog, he too fell into a crevasse but was
miraculously saved when his sled caught and left him suspended in
safety. Days later, he found his way back to camp where his condition
caused his team to ask, “My God, which one are you?”

Juliane Koepcke

Flight 508 was struck by lightning above
a Peruvian rainforest and 17-year-old Juliane Koepcke was the only
survivor. Still strapped in her seat, she was ejected from the plane and
landed two miles from the wreckage. Upon returning to consciousness,
she had a broken collarbone and was blind in one eye but had the wits to
know “where there’s water there’s people.” She walked along the river
for nine days until she found a cabin where she treated her
worm-infested wounds and awaited the owner.

Uruguayan Rugby Team

A Uruguayan rugby team was put to the
test when their plane flying over the Andes crashed into the peaks. Of
the 45 people on board, only 16 survived the initial crash and the
avalanche that followed on day 17. The survivors managed to stay alive
for 10 weeks by resorting to cannibalism – eating the flesh of the
fallen. Two of the men eventually ventured out, flagged down a Chilean
horseman and ended the 72-day struggle.

on a boat he built himself, it sank and left him drifting aimlessly on a
5-foot life raft. With minimal rations and a makeshift spear, he
battled malnourishment, dehydration, sunburn, a now leaking raft and

drifted 1,800 miles and managed to survive 76 days on the barren sea
before his rescue.

Bolivian Amazon with a total of three friends. When they realized they
were lost and lacking supplies, the foursome decided to divide into
pairs – Ghinsberg and his partner floated a raft down the river while
the others were never seen again. Ghinsberg’s raft eventually hit a rock
and the duo was split to fend for themselves. While his partner
immediately found help, Ghinsberg was left alone in the wild for 19 days
before his partner and a rescue team recovered him.

Tami Oldham Ashcraft

When sailing vet Tami Oldham Ashcraft
and her fiancée Richard Sharp accepted the duty to deliver a sailboat
from Tahiti to San Diego, they never considered Hurricane Raymond.
Caught amongst 50-foot waves and 160-mph winds; the boat capsized and
knocked Ashcraft unconscious. She woke 27 hours later to find that Sharp
was gone and the boat was in shambles. Determined, she reconstructed a
makeshift mast and sail, plotted a 1,500-mile course to Hawaii and
braved forty days at sea.

Ricky Megee

hitchhiking and left for dead in the middle of the Australian Northern
Territory. Disoriented and malnourished, he constructed shelters when
needed, drank water when he could and lived off of leeches, insects,
snakes, frogs and lizards. Surviving the outback for a total of 71 days,
Megee started his fight at 230 pounds and was a mere 105 pounds when he
wondered onto the farm that ultimately rescued him.

Mark Inglis and Phil Doole

Mark Inglis and Phil Doole were climbing
the peaks Aoraki Mount Cook, New Zealand’s highest mountain, when a
white storm surrounded them. Desperate, they built a snow cave in an
attempt to stay put and wait-out the blizzard’s wrath. Though they
managed to survive the elements for 13 days with minimal rations, they
both suffered extreme frostbite and their legs were later amputated.

in Steamboat Springs, CO turned nasty for Joe Spring when he broke his
leg. In the middle of nowhere and with minimal day-trip
supplies, he crawled 13 hours a day for eight days in the direction of
home. Greatly dehydrated and losing more than 35 pounds before his
rescue, he spent his nights shivering in tree wells and drew motivation
from the anguish that others would feel if he were to die.

found themselves lost in a 78-mile section of forest near Approuague
River in South America. Spending a total of 51 days in the jungle, the
duo divvied out tasks for survival and resorted to eating beetles,

pounds collectively on their 76-mile journey to the edge of the jungle
where they were miraculously sited just 2 miles from Saül.

Elsa Corp, a 26-year-old hairdresser, was murdered on her first date with a man
she did not know was a violent serial offender on parole.

Her killer, David Patrick Clifford, is one of three parole violators charged with murder
after Corrections Victoria caseworkers failed to notify the Parole Board they had committed new offences which could have led to their parole being cancelled.
Corrections Victoria was notified that Clifford had been arrested on three separate
occasions before he killed Ms Corp on February 1 last year.

When he murdered Ms Corp
he was on parole for drug trafficking,
had already breached parole
and a suspended sentence
following other earlier convictions
and was awaiting sentence over
the bashing of a bar owner.

Ms Corp's parents, Andy and Gilly, said yesterday no-one had taken
responsibility for their daughter's death or said they were sorry.

Mr Corp, a former UK policeman, said the family wrote to Police Minister
Peter Ryan and Corrections Minister Andrew McIntosh last week seeking
information and answers.

He said his family did not know Clifford was on parole until they read a story in the Herald Sun in June this year.

"It's absolutely gutted us, because it was a very bad failure in the system,'' Mr Corp said.
"For the sake of a bit of training, or procedure or supervision, the system fell over and failed us.

"Our daughter would probably be alive today if there hadn't been these stuff-ups''.

Ms Corp was on a blind date arranged by a girfriend
when she was beaten, slashed and strangled in a South Melbourne hotel room.

She is believed to have been lured to the room in the belief other friends were going to be there.

Clifford, 30, was due to stand trial on October 25 for Ms Corp's murder, but
decided on the eve of the three-week trial to plead guilty.

He will be sentenced after a Supreme Court plea hearing later this month.

Police handling of the parolee issue was addressed in last month's explosive report by the Office of Police Integrity.

The report said former Deputy Commissioner Sir Ken Jones had suggested
to then Chief Commissioner Simon Overland that the families of victims
allegedly murdered by parolees
be notified of the findings of an internal review.

Mr Overland, in an email reply he later implied was leaked by Sir Ken,
requested formal written advice prior to notifying the families.

The OPI report said Mr Overland cautioned that if Victoria Police had
"let the families down (he didn't) want to exacerbate the situation by
handling notification badly''.

But Mr Corp said yesterday his family had still received no formal explanation or apology from police or anyone else.

"Not at all, which hurts,'' he said.

The Herald Sun first revealed the state's parole scandal in April, when a secret
police report disclosed that 11 Victorians had been murdered by parole
violators in less than two-and-a-half years.
The report said seven of the 11 murders may have been prevented if police who had peviously dealt with the offenders over other matters had known they were on parole.

A failure in the police computer system was blamed, but after an urgent review it emerged that human error was also involved.

The review by police found that in three of those seven cases, community
corrections caseworkers were advised that parolees had been arrested
over other matters, but failed to pass the information on to the Parole Board.

Acting Chief Commissioner Ken Lay told the Herald Sun
after the review that in one of the three cases "Offender C'' - now
known to be Clifford - had been arrested on July 7, 2008, January 26,
2009, and June 9, 2009.

Each time, the police computer notified a Justice Department computer which then advised the relevant caseworker.

Ms Corp, who lived with her parents, was one of the three victims. The other two cases are still before the courts.

Acting Chief Commissioner Lay and Corrections Victoria Commissioner, Bob
Hastings, both admitted after the review that "procedural failures''
had left parole violators on the street.

It was also revealed after the review that another five murders had been
committed in other states by Victorians who had absconded on parole.

Clifford's prior convictions stretch back to 1998 and
include aggravated burglary on the home of a 76-year-old woman,
false imprisonment, intentionally causing injury, assault, resisting police,
harassing a witness, breaching an intervention order, drug trafficking,
dangerous driving and possession of an unregistered firearm.

Detectives who arrested him for drug trafficking found a handgun and
$68,000 cash in a backpack hidden in theceiling of his grandmother's
home.

One of Clifford's brothers, Sean, was convicted of larceny by finding in Sydney in 2005 after
claiming to have found a backpack containing $263,000 in cash in a lane near his home.

The last judge to sentence David Clifford told him she thought his
prospects of rehabilitation were low and specific deterrence should play
a significant part in his sentence.

Judge Jane Patrick said Clifford had not shown remorse for his part in the
drunken bashing of a Fitzroy bar owner on June 13, 2008 - only a month
after he had been released on parole.

She said Clifford was of above average intelligence, but abused drugs and alcohol and had behaved like "a violent and aggressive bully''.

She sentenced him in July last year to a total of 33 months' jail for intentionally causing injury, false imprisonment and assault, with a minimum of 21 months to serve before parole.
But in June this year, the Court of Appeal cut Clifford's sentence to 24 months with a minimum of 12 months.

The appeal judges, Justices Chris Maxwell and Lex Lasry, ruled that the
discrepancy between Clifford's sentence and that of his brother Kieran, a
co-offender, was manifestly excessive.

The Court of Appeal also found Judge Patrick had not taken sufficient account of the totality
principle, which required her to assume Clifford would have to serve another 18 months as the unexpired parole period.

A Parole Board spokesman said yesterday the board was co-operating with an independent
review of its functions, powers and processes by the Sentencing Advisory Council.

He said the board had already expanded the extent of information sharing with Victoria Police and was working closely with a separate review of the Office of Correctional Services "to eliminate shortcomings in the assessment and supervision of parolees''.

A Corrections Victoria spokesman said it had "taken steps to improve
information sharing with Victoria Police and strengthen the management
of parolees''.

THE Walsh Street police killings 23 years ago are likely to be the
first target of a new double-jeopardy law to be introduced to Parliament
today.

Double-jeopardy protection against being tried twice for the same offence will be removed when the new law is passed.

Senior police have visited the parents of the two young constables shot dead
in an ambush on October 11, 1988, and briefed them on the prospect of a
new prosecution.

Police said yesterday the force "looks forward to the possibilities this important new legislation presents".

Assistant Commissioner (Crime) Graham Ashton said the impact of the new law on
existing cases, including Walsh Street, had been discussed with the
Office of Public Prosecutions.

Mr Ashton said the force was preparing "preliminary material" ahead of formal meetings
with the OPP.

Trevor Pettingill and Anthony Farrell - were acquitted by a jury and are
still alive and the fourth, Victor Peirce, was gunned down in Port Melbourne in 2002.

news of the legislation's introduction and said he hoped it would
receive bipartisan support and be passed
quickly.

Attorney-General Robert Clark told the Herald Sunthe
Director of Public Prosecutions would be able to make only one
application for a retrial in a bid to reverse an earlier acquittal.

Critics say although four other states have dropped double-jeopardy immunity
over the past five years, there have not yet been any repeat prosecutions.

But
Mr Clark said there had been successful retrials and convictions in
several cases in England, where double-jeopardy immunity was dropped in
2005.

He said Victoria's new law provided "a sensible framework with appropriate checks and balances".

The
reforms will be retrospective and will mean a new trial can be ordered
if there is compelling new evidence a person previously acquitted of a
serious crime was guilty.

Mr Clark
said it could apply in cases where there was fresh and compelling DNA
evidence, where an acquitted person subsequently admitted to the crime,
or where it became clear
key witnesses had given false evidence.

These understandings of God, humans, and the world are expressed through the Torah and lived-out by the Jewish people through the Holy days and the Halakhah. In this view, Torah is that divine teaching which stands as "the constitution of the ongoing relationship of God and the Jewish people."

This expanded view/articulation of higher values help us to search for YHWHs presence in the secular Realms of Life, some peeps call this: 'Holy Secularism'.

The Covenant is essentially a Divine, Loving, Pedagogic process. As Humans become more competent, YHWH invites them to take up a more active role in the Task of Tikkun Olam/World to Come, as Co-Creators.

The lay people of YHWH/God play a more influential role in discerning Yahwehs purpose and in carrying out His Divine Mandates.

Later, ensuing Historical events reshape understandings of earlier Teachings.

We=ALL Living things-creatures-sustained and Nurtured by Yahweh-will fill the World with Life.

* We will reshape the Historical Reality, the Flesh & Blood world we inhabit, to sustain that Life at the highest possible level.

* Life will multiply and triumph Quantitatively over all its enemies; including Entropy, Death, and Disorder.

* Life will equally triumph Qualitatively.

* All of Lifes’ capacities/potentials will be developed fully and realized.

* When Life blossoms to its fullest capacity that treats all Life, especially Human Life-the most developed form-and sustains it with the highest and fullest respect that it deserves, then Life will be in harmony with existence and deeply related to Yahweh, its Source and Sustainer(Natural Laws)

* This is the Jews Story, and by default; the Christians/Xns.

* Telling the Story of Creation is the Jews 'Witness'. The present evidentiary Facts contradict the Narrative fairly substantialy.

* Yet, This Story of Creation is shared by Jews and Christians

* This Story leads Humans to see existence as best they can, from a Cosmic Perspective-Sub Specie Aeternitatis.

* From that Vantage Point there are Three Grand Movements in the unfolding Pattern of the Cosmos

3: Life is growing ever more to resemble its Ground: YHWH

Life moves from being less to becoming more and more like Yahweh. The highest form of Life, the Human Being, represents the High Point reached thus far.

In Human Form, life so resembles its Maker that it is called; Biblically; 'The Image of God'

* This emergence of "The Image of God" is the Turning Point in Cosmic History according to Jews & Christians.

Up to that point Life has been sworn to 'Be Fruitful & Multiply' (maximizing reproductive success) through a built-in control Programme-A 'Selfish Gene'- that drives the process.

* The 'Image of God' Consciousness is so much like YHWHs that Humans are able to 'grasp' this overall pattern of which we, ourselves are part, and to join voluntarily in its realization.

* The People of Israel joyfully acknowledge that YHWHs first Covenant, the Noahide Covenant, never superseded, is made with ALL Humanity, not exclusively with Jews and/or Christians alone.

* It is made with ALL Sentient Beings.

* ALL Beings are called to recognize and participate in Natures Patterns.

* To accept Limits.

* To Direct their choices and actions in favour of Life.

* To join in working for Order against Chaos.

* We are ALL CHOSEN to become part of the movement from Non-Life to Life.

* We are commanded to increase Life and make it grow ever more like its Maker.


* The purpose of the Religious way of life is to create the nurturing ambience of memory and experience, of relationships and actions that sustain Human growth and turns it towards Yahweh.

The following teaching from the riches of the Oral Tradition is about a level of understanding the Sabbath which is relevant to Jews and non-Jews alike. It is based on a teaching by Rabbi Chaim ben Atar (1746-1793), known as "the holy Light of Life," based on the title of his most famous work.

I. The World Intuitively Pines for G-d
Man - The Centerpiece of Creation
The created world can be divided into four basic categories: the inanimate, plant, animal, and 'speaking' life - man. Man, the highest level of creation, is the only creature endowed with the capability of speech, and this is what singles him out as a completely separate category - he has the greatest potential to develop a relationship with his Creator. He is the center of creation and its purpose and crowning achievement. For this reason, he was created last, and introduced into the Garden... to enable him to enter into a complete world, ready for him, furnished and equipped in advance to house its illustrious occupant.

Every Level of Creation Possesses a Soul
Man is followed by the members of the animal kingdom. Next in line comes the plant kingdom, and finally, inanimate creation - the lowest level of creation, as exemplified by stone. Even stone, the Torah teaches, possesses some degree of life-force, however weak. For it is impossible for something which the Holy One has created to be incapable of recognizing Him. Therefore, commensurate to that degree of life-force, awareness of the Divine could be said to exist within it...

Desire for Closeness to G-d... The Prime Mover
And so the soul, the essence, of every creature, each according to its level of understanding, has some inkling of the greatness of the Creator, and actually carries on a relationship with Him. This soul is constantly driven with endless passion to come closer to the source of all life, the Great and Perfect Light of the L-rd... how much more so should this be true among the higher, more spiritual elements of creation who understand to some extent what it means to 'cling' to the light of the living G-d.

All of Creation is United in the Desire for Closeness to G-d
Herein lies one of the greatest secrets of creation...

All life on earth... and even the actual physical elements that comprise the planet itself - the entire world as one, including every level of creation, from the lowest level of the inanimate - stones and earth, to the highest and most intelligent life-form, man himself; an endless pageant which spans every creature, plant and animal - all are constantly and inexorably united by an all-consuming, burning desire for G-d. This is the vital force which drives the world; this desire is the power which fuels the universe... it reverberates within the entire life-force, and the whole globe, like a man beating with one heart, knows on the deepest level with absolute clarity that there is nothing as sweet, desirable, and sustaining as 'Dveykut' - the ability to 'cling' close to the light of the Creator. This is the purpose of life itself, and on the deepest collective intuitive level, all are aware that nothing else is worth living for. This longing is itself the vital life-force of everything, and the entire world draws from it at once. In other words, this longing for G-d is what fuels the world to go on.

Because G-d is the Creator of all existence, He maintains an intimate link with each and every creature, regardless of its spiritual capacity. Obviously not all of creation is equal in spiritual sensitivity. Regardless of this, that link of intimate knowledge still exists, according to its degree of conciousness and development.

Three Revolutionary Innovations in Human History took place at Mount Sinai.

1: Abstract Ethical Monotheism

2: Universal Codified Law

3: An Alephbet 1,800 BCE

Abstract Ethical Monotheism rather than Polytheism, Rule of Law for All rather than the Divine Rights of Kings or Queens and an Aleph/Bet, less than thirty characters that replaced Iconographs/Ideograms and Hieroglyphs, enhancing Literacy amongst the masses.

The abstraction of all three innovations were mutually reinforcing.

To be True to its Witness, the People of Israel tell 3 Stories to the World, the rest of Humanity, in the presence of Yahweh and in the presence of their fellow Humans.

2: The Story of the Covenant, the process operating between a Divine-Human partnership whereby our imperfect World will be brought back to that state of Perfection.

At the end, Holistic perfection will be achieved.
Peace between Humans.

Between Humans and all the rest of Life, between all Life and Nature itself, and between all of the above and Yahweh.

Three Stories add up to one comprehensive Story: The Triumph of Life

Before Monotheism there had never been Religious Warfare.

The Polytheistic Cultures were live and let live about other culture Deities and often borrowed and share aspects.

The Polytheistic Deities were usually Local Deities, not Universe/Worldwide.

Polytheist had National gods, Local gods, family gods and personal gods, even their pet animals had gods.

Abstract Ethical Monotheism was a Major Advance along the road to Enlightenment, but came at a high cost.

Abstract Ethical Monotheism encouraged people to think in new ways. An Abstract Ethical Monotheistic Creator Being not tied to a concrete Image/Picture is a very Abstract Concept..

Abstraction is a crucial component of Logical Reasoning and its use can liberate people from superstition.

Devotion to an Abstract Deity has a Heavy price.

If everyone agrees there is only one, true, Living Creator Being, and different groups conceive of it in different ways, then whose perception of that Deity is the correct one?

Examine each groups’ values and praxis.

Different perceptions have inspired some groups to wage war and engage in forced conversions.

This never occurred in Polytheistic Cultures.

They had many wars but for the usual mundane reasons, Land, Treasure, Women, Power over others for the sake of Power alone, but they never waged Religious War.

One effect of an Alphabetic based Abstract Ethical Monotheism is the brain is using a new abstract, linear, sequential, and reductionist means of communication which moves people who learn it and use it into a Left Brain, Masculine Mode, rather than the usual Pictographic, Feminine Right Brain Mode.

The Aleph/Alphabet subliminally coaxes users to be intolerant of other Iconic Systems of Beliefs.

This is illuminated in the Ten Commandments.

As stated before, Judaism is the first religion to be based upon universal literacy, the written word.

Love your neighbour is not one of the Ten but appears in the Torah/Instruction, Leviticus 19:18.

The last six commandments are not unusual, and found in other Codices of Laws, The First four Commandments are Unique.

Each one of the first four commandments encourages Alphabetic Literacy by rejecting the Right Brains way of 'knowing'.

All of Yahwehs’ Titles are masculine.

The First Commandment is a radical break with the Hebrews past environment. Moses and the Hebrews had left Egypt which was Polytheistic, alot of gods and goddesses worship.

Yahweh declares there is no worship of other gods or goddesses.

Perhaps the most radical sentence ever written.

The Second Commandment:

20:4 Thou shall not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I; Yahweh thy Elohim am a jealous Elohim, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

20:6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

No Graven Images, Icons or Idols, Statues.

Learning to think without Images is indispensable to Alphabetic Literacy. The Power formerly rendered to Images/Pictures is now transferred to the written word.

Make no Graven Images is a ban/restraint on Right Brain Pattern Recognition.

The Third Commandment:

20:7 Thou shalt not take the name of Yahweh thy Elohim in vain; for Yahweh will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

Do not use Yahwehs Name vainly, with Malintent. Again; Left Brain.

Yahwehs first instruction to adam isto Name all the critters. Through Naming, Adam attains dominion over all the Earth. Naming confers meaning and order, moving Life from Chaos to Order.

To Name is to know, to know is to control. Order out of Chaos.

The Fourth Commandment:

20:8 Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.

20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

20:10 But the seventh day is the Sabbath of thy Elohim: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

20:11 For in six days made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Seven Days are not a Natural Break Point in any of Earths Major Natural Rhythmic Cycles-Lunar-Solar, except the Quarter Moon.

This facilitates the learning of Arithmetic.

Leviticus 25:3-10 is about the Jubilee Years, the 50th,

No other Ancient Near East culture at that time had instructed the general population to compute complex time periods, this had formerly been the domain of the Priestly Castes.

A Judgement Day only occurs in Literate Cultures.

Alphabet Literate Cultures became aware of writing History in a Linear, Chronological sequencing of Events.

The fourth Commandments Mechanical/Sociological ramifications is instructing people to be aware of Passing Time.

This was the advent of the seven day week, and a day off every week.

A day off for ALL Humans, Free and Bond, and ALL Beasts of Burden one day a week and the Farmland to lay fallow every seven years to rejuvinate the enzymes in the ground.

This led to Sundials, waterclocks, Pendulums, Escape Mechanisms, Cogs, Gears, Calenders.

Time is a key function of the Left Brain.

Their decision to give at least a third of all the money raised by the foundation to the welfare of the military, a cause championed by their father and grandmother, will resonate with the public - a point not lost on their advisers. The foundation is the most significant expansion of their public profiles. The truth is that both Prince William and Prince Harry are in a historically unique position in the modern monarchy. For the first time since the reign of Queen Victoria both "the heir and the spare" are healthy adults. Never before has there been a Prince of Wales as old as Prince Charles, the longest-serving heir to the throne. The Queen, at 83, shows little sign of slowing down. Prince William knows his own position could also last decades if his father's health is as robust as his grandmother's. It is why, at 27 and 25 respectively, the princes are already plotting their future. They both want to avoid the mistakes made by their father, who spent decades agonising about his role and purpose in public life. The foundation will not just be a fitting testament to the legacy of their mother; it is also a sign that the princes are ahead of their father at the same stage in their apprenticeships. The Prince of Wales set up the Prince's Trust, his first charitable venture, with his $13,400 severance pay from the Royal Navy, while Prince William and Prince Harry could each have another decade in the forces. Both the Queen and Prince of Wales hope the foundation is a further sign that the princes have become more comfortable about the unenviable prospect of devoting their entire lives to public duty in the often unforgiving eye of the media. Prince Harry, in particular, still blames the media for the death of his mother, her car pursued by the Paris paparazzi into the Alma tunnel. The expansion of their charitable ventures is also shrewd public relations. Vernon Bogdanor, professor of government at Oxford University, said: "When the Queen came to the throne, about a third of the population thought that the monarchy had been ordained by God. They don't think like that now and they want it to be a utilitarian institution which has to justify itself and to show the monarchy is relevant and practical. It's why the princes have embarked on this course. "It's not easy. There is no prescribed role for the heir to the throne, let alone the son of the heir and his brother. The Prince of Wales has become the first to find a proper role for himself and Prince William is clearly following in his footsteps." A number of decisions have already been taken by the young princes. They will studiously avoid courting political controversy, unlike their father who at 22 was questioning Harold Wilson's government over the fate of Atlantic salmon years before declining fish stocks figured on the political agenda. In the ensuing four decades or so as the warm-up act to the Queen, the Prince of Wales has been demonised as the adulterer in his disastrous marriage, criticised for meddling in government affairs and attacked as a hypocrite who does not practise what he preaches on climate change because of his lavish lifestyle and penchant for flying the world in chartered jets. It is significant that Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, the princes' increasingly influential private secretary, is a trustee of the charity. He is helping to plan a more structured career path for them. When Prince William leaves the RAF he will go on secondment to Parliament, probably in the Speaker's Office, to learn about the drafting of Bills, the parliamentary timetable, and the traditions of the Palace of Westminster, where he will one day make the King's speech. He will also work in one of the Inns of Court alongside barristers, prosecutors, defence lawyers and judges. "He will be head of the judiciary one day so he wants to have an understanding of it," said one aide. He will also spend time working with his charities. There is the possibility of a diplomatic posting such as Governor-General of Australia or Canada for either of the princes. Their father was linked to the Canberra post in the 1970s. There would be advantages to a posting in Australia where Kevin Rudd, the prime minister, is an avowed republican. It is one reason why Prince William is representing the monarch for the first time overseas next year in New Zealand and Australia, the most far flung parts of her realm. But diplomatic baubles are not in the gift of Clarence House. "They are a matter for the Australian and Canadian governments. It would not be appropriate for the Royal family to say Prince William or Prince Harry is up for the job," an adviser said. "However, if they were to offer it would be given very serious consideration." Over the years, Prince William has taken soundings from a number of eminent figures, including Dr David Starkey, the historian, whose books on Henry VIII and Elizabeth I have been turned into successful television series. They both talk endlessly to the Duke of Edinburgh, who has been a valuable source of advice. One friend said: "No matter how good the advisers in the inner-circle, the Queen and Prince of Wales give the best possible wise counsel." Both princes have become closer to their father since the death of their mother and have observed his restlessness, which was on show as recently as last November in a documentary to mark his 60th birthday. When asked if he enjoyed his job, he replied: "Bits of it." It was their father who encouraged them to stay in the protective custody of the RAF and the Household Calvary, where they can lead a life as close as possible to normal, albeit with protection officers by their side for 24 hours a day. Unlike other members of the Royal family, they do not have equerries to lay out their clothes and they do their own ironing in the rented cottage they share near RAF Shawbury in Shropshire. The flunkeys who will wait upon them hand and foot (and who will be officers they have worked alongside) will not arrive until they go back to civilian life. Already attitudes are changing; these days most people address them as Prince William and Prince Harry or Your Royal Highness. While they don't object to being called just William or Harry, even some staff who previously used their Christian names now address them by their titles. It is another sign that they are turning into central figures in the House of Windsor, exactly as the Queen and Prince of Wales intended. In 18 months, the new foundation will be giving out grants, ensuring that Prince William and Prince Harry increasingly hog the limelight at the expense of older members of the Royal family, including their father. It is ironic, then, that for years the princes, who were the most reluctant members of the Royal family - not least because of the manner of the death of their mother - are now seen as the best assets of the House of Windsor. HORRIFIC footage of the aftermath
of the 1996 Port Arthur massacre
has been uploaded on YouTube.

Police aretrying to trace
the account holder,
whose uploaded under
the alias "FreeMartinBryant".

The nine-minute evidence video
was stolen from the Tasmanian Police archive.
It
contains graphic images of some of the 35 people shot dead at the
tourist spot, and police last night were trying to have it removed from
the internet.
FreeMartinBryant's user profile contains more than
20 videos pertaining to "conspiracies" surrounding the events of Port
Arthur, with several videos pertaining to Bryant's "innocence".
It is unknown how the footage was obtained,
but it also appeared on the internet in 2004 .
"Unfortunately
this isn't the first time that this training video has turned up in the
wider community," Deputy Commissioner Scott Tilyard said.

"It has been known for some years that copies of the police training video have found their way into the public domain.
"A copy was located at a public tip in 2004, which led to an investigation."
Police Minister David O'Byrne said the footage was unlikely to have been stolen recently.
The video archive was upgraded in 2004.
"Tasmania
Police changed their procedures after discovering the material may be
in the public domain, in 2004," he said. "I'm advised no breach has
occurred since then and that the current procedures for handling such
material are secure."
Police are greatly concerned about the effect the video could have on the wider community.
"It
is highly distressing not only for the families of the victims, but for
the community, for these images to be available on the internet," Mr
Tilyard said.
Trauma psychologist Paul Stevenson, who worked for
many years with many of the survivors and victims' families, shared the
disbelief and horror about the posted video.

"To post this is a nasty, terrible thing to have occurred," the Brisbane-based consultant psychologist said.
"By
watching or hearing it is a re-experience - all of those things people
felt at the time come back. The tragedy occurs all over.
"This is very distressing ...
a real worry for families of victims
because
this is exactly what triggers
post-traumatic stress."

Hobart has put on a chilly welcome for Dutch royals the Prince
of Orange Willem-Alexander and Princess Maxima.

Premier Paul Lennon and Governor William Cox braved icy winds to
meet the royal couple from the Netherlands at Hobart airport on
Wednesday afternoon.

"We are very pleased and honoured that their royal highnesses
have chosen to include Tasmania in their Australian visit," Mr
Lennon said.

"I am particularly delighted that the royal couple has chosen to
spend two days in Tasmania visiting a number of our attractions.

"Dutch explorer Abel Tasman was the first European to sight the
state that now bears his name and the steady stream of Dutch
migrants to Tasmania have made an enormous contribution in so many
areas."

The couple's itinerary includes a tour of the Tasmanian Museum
and Art Gallery, a visit to Port Arthur and a private reception for
the Dutch community at the Henry Jones Art hotel.

The couple is in Australia on an official visit to celebrate 400
years since Dutch explorers landed on the coast of Western
Australia.

They will fly to Sydney on Thursday afternoon and from there
they will travel to New Zealand.

Like all other continents, Antarctica has at its core an ancient
shield. The rocks of the East Antarctica shield are as old as 4 billion

for exploration, so work would have to take place under the ice sheet.
The difficult Antarctic conditions, evenwhen the technology works well
elsewhere make exploitation unlikely.
Once minerals are mined, Antarctica is a long way from world markets,
and material would have to be transported over the treacherous Southern
Ocean. Cheaper sources exist elsewhere in the world, and these will be
exploited before Antarctic sources.

Like all other continents, Antarctica has at its core an ancient
shield. The rocks of the East Antarctica shield are as old as 4 billion
years, which means that they are amongst the oldest known rocks on
Earth. Geologists are now studying this shield to help them gain insight
into the early geological processes of the Earth’s history.

In many ways, the evolution of Antarctica appears to be similar to
that of Australia. The fossil record of the two continents is similar,
and Antarctica has yielded dinosaurs, amphibians and even marsupials
from ages when the continents were joined.

The position of the continents shifts constantly and the geography of
today's world is vastly different from what it was even a hundred
million years ago. Twenty million years before the dinosaurs became
extinct, Australia, Antarctica and South America were part of the same
land mass called Gondwana. In those days Antarctica was not covered in
ice, even though it was at the South Pole. Animals passed freely from
South America through Antarctica to Australia, and the plant species of
Gondwana were also closely related to each other.

Eighty five million years ago Australia began to separate from Antarctica.
The separation started slowly at first at a rate of only a few millimetres a year.
This then accelerated to the present rate of 7 cm a year.
Australia completely separated from Antarctica about 30 million years ago.

Scientists in Antarctica have discovered fossilised spores and pollen
of sundews, Nothofagus (which includes the Tasmanian myrtle
N. cunninghamii and the Tasmanian deciduous beech N. gunnii ).
The Tasmanian tree fern and creeping pine, are derived from forms which
once inhabited Australia and Antarctica.

Scientists were recently excited by a fossil discovery of twigs, roots, leaves
and pollen in Antarctica, of a form which is virtually indistinguishable
from Nothofagus gunnii , the Tasmanian deciduous beech.
These fossils may be ‘only’ 3 million years old.

This implies that Antarctica was not entirely covered by ice at that time.
Previous to this find, scientists had thought that Antarctica cooled and
became ice bound after Australia and South America separated
30 million years ago, allowing the Circumpolar Current to develop.
Scientists are still debating the age and significance of this
fossil discovery.

People who consider Antarctica to be a small continent will be
surprised to discover that it is larger than Europe and nearly twice the
size of Australia. The Antarctic continent, excluding its ice shelves,
covers over 13 million square kilometres compared with 7.7 million km²
for Australia, or 10.5 million km² for Europe. The map below gives some
idea of relative size.



Ninety-nine percent of Antarctica has a permanent blanket of snow and ice.
Only about one percent of the continent's rock base is visible
where it pokes through the ice sheet in the form of coastal outcrops,
mountain ranges or ‘nunataks’ which are isolated peaks.

The Transantarctic Mountains divide the continent into two
contrasting parts, the East and West. The Transantarctic Mountains
constitute one of the world’s longest and most impressive mountain
chains. They extend from the north western corner of the Ross Sea to the
south western corner of the Weddell Sea. West Antarctica, which
includes the Antarctic Peninsula, is smaller and has a complex
geological history. West Antarctica consists of four land units each
with a different history. There has been major volcanic activity here in
recent geological times and there are still a few active volcanic
centres. Deep waters exist between land units and the West Antarctic ice
sheet, which can be considered to a be floating ice mass, held in place
by land peaks. West Antarctica includes the Vinson Massif, which has
the highest peak in Antarctica at 5140 metres.

Most of East Antarctica is still not well known by geologists but it
does include the Transantarctic Mountains. These commonly exceed 4000
metres elevation. The shield is very depressed in the centre, where it
carries the bulk of the Antarctic ice sheet. Large areas lie deeper than
1000 metres below sea level.

Mining Antarctica

There are deposits of minerals such as coal and iron ore, but there
are vast economic and technical difficulties associated with the
recovery of mineral deposits. The Antarctic ice cover is, on average,
2.5 km thick and this means that very little of the land is accessible
for exploration, so work would have to take place under the ice sheet.
The difficult Antarctic conditions, evenwhen the technology works well
elsewhere make exploitation unlikely.
Once minerals are mined, Antarctica is a long way from world markets,
and material would have to be transported over the treacherous Southern
Ocean. Cheaper sources exist elsewhere in the world, and these will be
exploited before Antarctic sources.

So far, the economics of extracting resources from the harsh
Antarctic environment have prevented any commercial operations, but
Antarctica's climate may not protect its minerals indefinitely. What can
prevent such exploitation is a strong, well-supported international
agreement. Nations of the Antarctic Treaty System agreed in 1991 to put a
halt to the exploitation of minerals when they signed a comprehensive
Protocol on Environmental Protection (the Madrid Protocol), which banned
mining in Antarctica indefinitely. This important agreement came into
force in January 1998.

They are not lobsters at all, but are more closely related to
porcelain crabs, hermit crabs and then, more distantly, true crabs.

VICTORIA Police has launched a criminal investigation into
allegations senior reporters from The Age newspaper illegally hacked
into an ALP electoral roll database and searched the private details of
dozens of high-profile Victorians.

On Thursday morning detectives from VicPol's E-Crime Unit headed by the unit's boss,
John Manley executed a search warrant on the ALP's King St headquarters.

The warrant ordered Labor to surrender material relating to unauthorised
access to the party's Eleczilla database during last year's state
election and named reporters Royce
Millar and Nick McKenzie, the newspaper's editor-in-chief, Paul Ramadge, and senior editor Mark Baker.

The database, which Labor is legally entitled to hold, contains
personal details of millions of Victorians including names, addresses,
phone numbers and marital status as well as any confidential dealings
between individuals and the party.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman confirmed on Friday the matter was under investigation.

"Victoria
Police E-Crime Squad is investigating the allegation that personal
details of Victorians were electronically accessed by a media outlet via
a confidential political party database without authorisation," she
said.

"As the investigation is active and ongoing we are not in a position to comment any further."
In April the Sunday Herald Sun revealed theALP had ordered an internal probe into the Eleczilla hacking.

Among the high-profile Victorians searched from inside The Age were broadcasters Neil Mitchell and Jon Faine, pollster Gary Morgan and Yarra councillor Stephen Jolly.
There also were attempts to search the surnames "Overland" and "Barnes". The
accessing of the database from within The Age allegedly took place over four days
in the lead-up to last November's state election.

That month the newspaper published a report by Mr Millar and Mr McKenzie that
said the newspaper had "gained access" to the ALP's database.

Mr Ramadge did not return voice and text messages left by the Sunday Herald Sun yesterday.

In June The Age's senior editor, Mr Baker, said: "There is nothing improper, unethical or illegal in the actions of The Age.

"The conduct of our reporters . . . was a wholly legitimate exercise of journalism."

While accessing the database, Age journalists also conducted
a string of key word searches for words including
lesbian, abortion, corruption, gay, Muslim and privacy.

Three detectives from the E-Crime Unit, assisted by technical staff,
arrived unannounced at the ALP's King St headquarters on Thursday morning
with a warrant to seize material relating to The Age's alleged hacking.

They were acting on a complaint laid by
Victorian Electoral Commissioner Steve Tully.

Mr Tully had earlier contacted ALP state secretary Noah Carroll following the Sunday Herald Sun's reports on the matter.

ALP staff co-operated fully with police, who stayed for about three hours,
departing with data relating to the searches allegedly conducted by The Age.

Yesterday Yarra Cr Jolly - whose name was among those allegedly searched
by The Age - said that he was horrified by the allegations.

"People are innocent until proven guilty, but if journalists working for The Age
have been digging dirt on people's personal lives using illegal means, I
think that's outrageous and I think their peers and also Age readers are
going to be shocked and horrified," he said.

"The Age ran very hard against News of the World
in England earlier in the year and if, through this criminal
investigation, they are caught with their pants down doing the same
thing, they need to take a really hard look at themselves."

Pollster Mr Morgan, whose details were also searched, said:
"If they've broken the law then they should be prosecuted."

A legal opinion seen by the Sunday Herald Sun argued
there were reasonable grounds for suspecting the newspaper's actions
breached the Commonwealth's Cybercrime Act 2001 as well as
the Victorian Crimes Act, which carries a penalty of up to two years in prison
for illegally accessing a secure database.

Under both laws,
to prove a crime, the hacker must have knowingly accessed restricted
data and the data must be restricted by an access control system.

In July, Mr Carroll said the party had "never granted any authorisation to The Age".
"Nor did we grant such authorisation to any person within the party to assist The Age
in such an endeavour," he said.

Yesterday Mr Carroll refused to comment on the matter. A spokesman for electoral
commissioner Mr Tully said it would be "inappropriate to comment as the matter is
in the hands of the police".

The Jewish religion is founded on the divine assurance and human belief that the world will be perfected." Judaism engages with and seeks to overcome these realities of history through its notion of covenant. The covenant is that dynamic which God inaugurated in history, that partnership between God and the Jewish people, to achieve the dignities for which all humans were created. Jews are those teachers, models, and co-workers-having both a divine and human partners - whom God designated to help all persons and even nature achieve redemption. For Greenberg, the messianic dream of perfection will not be realized by divine fiat, but by "improving this world, one step at a time."

The created world can be divided into four basic categories: the inanimate, plant, animal, and 'speaking' life - man. Man, the highest level of creation, is the only creature endowed with the capability of speech, and this is what singles him out as a completely separate category - he has the greatest potential to develop a relationship with his Creator. He is the center of creation and its purpose and crowning achievement. For this reason, he was created last, and introduced into the Garden... to enable him to enter into a complete world, ready for him, furnished and equipped in advance to house its illustrious occupant.

Every Level of Creation Possesses a Soul
Man is followed by the members of the animal kingdom. Next in line comes the plant kingdom, and finally, inanimate creation - the lowest level of creation, as exemplified by stone. Even stone, the Torah teaches, possesses some degree of life-force, however weak. For it is impossible for something which the Holy One has created to be incapable of recognizing Him. Therefore, commensurate to that degree of life-force, awareness of the Divine could be said to exist within it...

Desire for Closeness to G-d... The Prime Mover
And so the soul, the essence, of every creature, each according to its level of understanding, has some inkling of the greatness of the Creator, and actually carries on a relationship with Him. This soul is constantly driven with endless passion to come closer to the source of all life, the Great and Perfect Light of the L-rd... how much more so should this be true among the higher, more spiritual elements of creation who understand to some extent what it means to 'cling' to the light of the living G-d.

All of Creation is United in the Desire for Closeness to G-d
Herein lies one of the greatest secrets of creation...

All life on earth... and even the actual physical elements that comprise the planet itself - the entire world as one, including every level of creation, from the lowest level of the inanimate - stones and earth, to the highest and most intelligent life-form, man himself; an endless pageant which spans every creature, plant and animal - all are constantly and inexorably united by an all-consuming, burning desire for G-d. This is the vital force which drives the world; this desire is the power which fuels the universe... it reverberates within the entire life-force, and the whole globe, like a man beating with one heart, knows on the deepest level with absolute clarity that there is nothing as sweet, desirable, and sustaining as 'Dveykut' - the ability to 'cling' close to the light of the Creator. This is the purpose of life itself, and on the deepest collective intuitive level, all are aware that nothing else is worth living for. This longing is itself the vital life-force of everything, and the entire world draws from it at once. In other words, this longing for G-d is what fuels the world to go on.

Because G-d is the Creator of all existence, He maintains an intimate link with each and every creature, regardless of its spiritual capacity. Obviously not all of creation is equal in spiritual sensitivity. Regardless of this, that link of intimate knowledge still exists, according to its degree of conciousness and development.

If everyone agrees there is only one, true, Living Creator Being, and different groups conceive of it in different ways, then whose perception of that Deity is the correct one?

Examine each groups’ values and praxis.

Different perceptions have inspired some groups to wage war and engage in forced conversions.

This never occurred in Polytheistic Cultures.

They had many wars but for the usual mundane reasons, Land, Treasure, Women, Power over others for the sake of Power alone, but they never waged Religious War.

One effect of an Alphabetic based Abstract Ethical Monotheism is the brain is using a new abstract, linear, sequential, and reductionist means of communication which moves people who learn it and use it into a Left Brain, Masculine Mode, rather than the usual Pictographic, Feminine Right Brain Mode.

As stated before, Judaism is the first religion to be based upon universal literacy, the written word.

All of Yahwehs’ Titles are masculine.

The First Commandment is a radical break with the Hebrews past environment. Moses and the Hebrews had left Egypt which was Polytheistic, alot of gods and goddesses worship.

Yahweh declares there is no worship of other gods or goddesses.

Perhaps the most radical sentence ever written.

The Second Commandment:

20:4 Thou shall not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I; Yahweh thy Elohim am a jealous Elohim, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

20:6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

No Graven Images, Icons or Idols, Statues.

Learning to think without Images is indispensable to Alphabetic Literacy. The Power formerly rendered to Images/Pictures is now transferred to the written word.

Make no Graven Images is a ban/restraint on Right Brain Pattern Recognition.

The Third Commandment:

20:7 Thou shalt not take the name of Yahweh thy Elohim in vain; for Yahweh will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

Do not use Yahwehs Name vainly, with Malintent. Again; Left Brain.

Yahwehs first instruction to adam isto Name all the critters. Through Naming, Adam attains dominion over all the Earth. Naming confers meaning and order, moving Life from Chaos to Order.

To Name is to know, to know is to control. Order out of Chaos.

The Fourth Commandment:

20:8 Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.

20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

20:10 But the seventh day is the Sabbath of thy Elohim: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

20:11 For in six days made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Seven Days are not a Natural Break Point in any of Earths Major Natural Rhythmic Cycles-Lunar-Solar, except the Quarter Moon.
