Beware the orange spot of shame, punters

THE world's most regal racecourse, famous for its high fashion, has
been made to pay dearly for belittling punters who failed to adhere to
its strict new dress code.
Officials at Ascot, the UK racecourse owned by the Queen, had
marked about 100 spectators with an orange sticker for turning up at the
track's premier enclosure at the weekend without a jacket and tie.
The spot was meant as a warning to others but simply ended up angering
punters, with many saying the racecourse's attitude had left them gobsmacked.
One told The Times newspaper (subscribers):
"An old guy standing on the stairs put these orange stickers on us.
I was more surprised than anything else. It was no way to treat customers."
Ascot admitted it had made a mistake and offered £28,000 in refunds to racegoers.
