Great thread Damn'Sod!, but many are actually changing the date to 2016 or 2020 instead. This scenerio is NOT HAPPENING at all, and remember that other film called Day after Tommorrow. That was a real piece of scaremongering.

Burgess also wrote the novel A Clockwork Orange, the story of mind-control that became that controversial film.

I've no doubt that some huge change is about to come over the world, if not in 2012 then soon after or before. But I'm not sacared of it. Emmerich's films are all about fear: fear of ET's, fear of the climate, fear of 2012. Like all his films, 2012 is being massively hyped. They are marketed and advetized like no other. I went to the flicks last week and the staff were all wearing 2012 t-shirts! I remember seeing ID4 lunchboxes in the shops before Independence Day came out. I'm curious why such mediocre films are promoted so vigourously. I think they're psyops.
