I just went halves with my son in new TV, so we could watch The Rugby.
A ridiculous extravagance for me, but hey, everyone needs a little something
to cheer about now and then, and 'now is one of those thens', particularly
well timed as we also got to watch,
MELBOURNE STORM WIN THE MINOR PREMIERSHIP, AGAIN!
The telly was much cheaper than the cost of one of us attending one game,
and lets face it, they don't need the money of their poor, but loyal supporters,
who were also amongst those who helped convince the League Higher Ups,
that Victoria was ready to get and support a Rugby League Team, and, WHAT
A FINE TEAM THEY HAVE PROVEN TO BE!

But putting the mere entertainment value of sport aside (and leaving the
details of the issues relevant to this Major News Headline, to the hundreds
of comments it inspired), I do have to wonder, what the real reason for,
for making such an OUTRAGEOUS ATTACK ON VICTORIANS,
ON THE 10th Anniversary of 9/11, IS
The Melbourne Storm, RIGHTIOUS "STORM"... 252310 ...keeping in mind, that,
Melbourne Storm, Is Murdoch Backed....you just have to KNOW
that This IS MUCH MORE than the very old, and ONCE very friendly,
North/South "Sporting" Rivalry.

Because, as is plain for anyone to see, Gallop's EXCUSES for HIS ATTACK
ON ALL SUPPORTERS of MELBOURNE STORM, ARE EVEN WORSE ATTACKS.

UPDATE 12.06pm:
MELBOURNE Storm captain Cameron Smith
has called NRL boss David Gallop thin-skinned
and unable to cop the boos his teammates get every other week
after the chief executive's attack on Melbourne fans.

On the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, Gallop attacked those among a 14,000-strong crowd at AAMI Park who booed him.
Gallop was there to present Storm chief executive Ron Gauci with the JJ Giltinan shield for winning the minor premiership.

"I never really go for that whole passion line. I mean, terrorists are
passionate about what they do and, you know, that doesn't make it
right,"
Gallop said.

"I obviously didn't enjoy it, but I'm absolutely confident we made the right decision."

It was the NRL chief's first appearance at a Storm game since stripping
the club of two premierships as a result of last year's salary cap
scandal.

Gallop told a Crocmedia radio show in Queensland those who booed him were clearly
in favour of Storm's behaviour in recent years.

"They were involved in large systematic cheating and those people
who booed me yesterday, well, they obviously support the cheating that
was going on."

When questioned at the about the use of the term terrorist Gallop did not back down.

"Well, it's a topical one at the moment," he said.

"Passion is a bad excuse and it gets used too much in sport ... Passion isn't something that is an excuse for poor behaviour."

This morning, in three separate radio interviews in Melbourne and Sydney,
Gallop backed away and said he chose a poor analogy, especially so close
to the 10th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks in New York.

"Of course I wasn't calling the supporters terrorists, that's nonsense.
I was making the point you can't use passion an excuse for poor behaviour.
Maybe my analogy and timing wasn't great,'' Gallop told Sydney's 2KY.

"I wasn't trying to cause offence to anyone.''

But coming on straight after Gallop on the same station, Storm skipper
Smith said Gallop took too long to say he regretted his comments and he
and his teammates copped worse booing at every away ground, especially
last season, but they never complained.

"Whenever we travel away, we get booed a lot as well, is that poor behaviour ?''
Smith asked.

"We just believe that is part of the game. If we can cop it every week then I think so should everyone else.

"It's a little bit upsetting, the timing of it all. Clearly David realises
now it was the wrong thing to say. I was a bit surprised it took him
such a long time in that interview to say that he regretted saying it.
But we move on.''

Gallop said it was the first time he’d watched a home game in Melbourne this year.

He backed the NRL’s decision to strip the Storm of two premierships for breaching
the salary cap.

“We believe we made the right decision last year in taking the premiership
away in ensuring that they couldn’t play for competition points in the roster that they had. And, indeed, their performance this year underlines those were the right decisions,” he said.

<blockquote class="comment-body"> Well he certainly knows how to drum up more
support for Rugby in Victoria. But it's his "passion", for Melbourne
Storm "bashing" and coddling all others (who have none seriously bad
things), that he was, rightly, booed for. If all teams conducted
themselves in the community and family friendly, well mannered, well
disciplined, respectful and respected way, Melbourne Storm does, Rugby
may finally lose it's reputation, as a "Thugs" Game. You know, the sort
of discipline needed to get on with playing to the amazing high standard
that has EARNED Melbourne Storm it's consistent, record of Wins, from
when it first entered the League. And for not holding Melbourne Storm
Up, as The Example, for those other 'thuggish' teams and 'supporters' to
Rise to, I think All Fans of The Sport of Rugby, should give you a
'passionate', "Boo!".

P.S. no doubt it's in those hundreds of comments, but I'll add: other
teams (like that of my ex's), have also been busted breaching salary caps,
and MUCH WORSE, yet none of them coped what Melbourne Storm did,
and ROSE SO WELL AND HIGH ABOVE, The REAL CHEATING SOOKS that
don't even come close to VICTORIA'S MELBOURNE STORM'S, Consistent,
All Round, QUALITY!

Liverpool star’s 9/11 outrage
Published: 13 Sep 2011

A LIVERPOOL star sparked outrage
on the tenth anniversary of 9/11
by claiming
the terrorist attacks were "an accident".

Striker Nathan Eccleston, 20,
tweeted that he believed the
"Illuminati secret society"
was behind the atrocity.

He ended his message with the initials
OTIS, for Only The Illuminati Succeed.

He wrote:
"I aint going to say attack
don't let the media make u believe
that was terrorist that did it.. #O.T.I.S."

Fans were furious. One said:
"How massively disrespectful."

Another called him
"offensive and ignorant".

The US-owned club said they were investigating.
